Battle in the Rockies – Day 3

The days are going so fast here, already on Day 3 out here for the Battle in the Rockies contest! Yesterday was by far the busiest day yet, the morning began with heading to the Tintadome to work on last minute tweaks for the event, finishing off trophies, visiting a few local bikeshops and so on.

Around 2pm we made the hour trip back to Denver International airport to pick up Michael Steingraeber. James was immediately on fire with his immigration jokes,we had a few hours to kill until Moto Sasaki and Todd Carter arrived from Colorado Springs airport. Mike set up his bike and met Bill at the Tintadome, and got warmed up whilst myself and James collected Moto and Todd from the airport.

The evening session at the Tintadome was a busy one, Mike S, James McGraw, Todd Carter, Bill Nitschke, and Matty Clark who drove out from Ohio. Much heckling, and non stop good vibes. James was having problems with his wheel, so put in a new wheel. Mike S was killing it, so rad to see him ride in person again and fresh off the flight too. Bill Nitschke was on fire, there was a fun lil’ battle with Mike and Bill, Bill had to do a triple decade and Mike had to hit a mega spin to brakeless perverted, Mike won, but it was so rad to feel the energy these guys had. As the session seemed to tone down some, Todd and James started hitting their lines back to back, Mike S shot some photos (of which you can see some here). It was another another good day here in Colorado Springs! Enjoy the photos!

  1. We were looking at the Old School Sunday Post from last weekend. The video battle between Jay Jones and Danny Meng. I had noticed that my Dad was in the video thumbnail. It brought back great memories of him helping at flatland comps 30 years ago. I had to show the crew that moment.
