Giannis Caternellis – Afypnisis / In Memory Of Seiji Sakata

I don’t know about you, but the passing of Seiji Sakata is still a big shock for me. Giannis Caternellis just sent in the first of what I hope are many tributes towards the man. Here’s what he had to say:

“On April 28th I posted Originalidade #6 part 3 which I dedicated to Seiji Sakata for his battle with cancer. Even in my worst nightmare I wouldn’t imagine that I will make exactly one month later a video in his memory….

I met Seiji on my first contest in Flatground 2004 and I remember him as a hunle guy and a very stylish rider setting today’s trend with his brakeless links. This is how I will remember him forever.

Here is the video I dedicate to Seiji Sakata for his memory, “Afypnisis” which is a greek word and means “wake up call”, because we need to wake up and see what is important in life, and this is our family, our people who they love us for what we are and nothing else matters.”
