Joel Schallhorn – Dave Mirra Tribute

Joel Schallhorn shared this heartfelt tribute to Dave Mirra, including some footage of Joel riding one of Mirra’s old models. Here is what Joel had to say:

“Dave Mirra was an inspiration to millions. His death is a tragic loss for not just the BMX community but all the communities he’s inspired in his life.My heart goes out to his family and friends. He inspired me to pick up a bike and become who I am today. For that I can’t thank him enough. He will always be my hero.

This is my tribute to Dave Mirra.”

  1. Nice one Joel…

I imagine a lot of kids out there had this same connection with Dave.
I too had the Mirra pro series in green. At 13 I went to a mates house who his mother rented Mirra BMX 1 on playstation for him, which he wasn’t as amazed at as I was. I then went to work in shearing sheds in outback Australia to save my coin to buy a Mirra bike.
I too had No ramps, rode dirt and flat. But hooked thanks to seeing BMX the way Dave Mirra did it. Consumed everything BMX that dialup internet had to offer at that time.
When all the kids were getting X1’s I was rolling the Mirra, I thought I was the shit.
Miracle boy is the only VHS I couldn’t throw away.

    RIP Dave Mirra

  2. Awesome tribute… amazing to see that old Haro model again, I remember selling tons of those in my shop back in the day to kids who saw Dave on TV and wanted to get started on bmx.
