  1. Holy cow, for me it is obvious why Matthias keeps on collecting awards. So versatile. I think he reached the top level of modern flatland riding. And with modern i mean, fast turbining lots of switches, a couple of jumps and the occasional switch-steam…. I believe that he has this style so dailed it is time for him to explore a new style, a new challenge if you will. And i think that is what he is doing now. Wether you like it or not.

To me that combo that starts at 1:00 is way more interesting and mindblowing than 360’s, barflips and hopwhips. But then again you need to understand flatland to see it.

  2. hes definitley simplified his riding, maybe to appeal to the street riders he hangs out with now, but he does ride more street and park now, you cant blame him , endless hours in carparks at night is antisocial and only appeals to a select few, he seems to be enjoying himself doing what he does now

  3. You hear that song starting at karlkruzer pivots? I have a feeling he has an inner battle with dez that’s why posted!

  4. This is Matthias from the time when “Sevisual Everywhere” was filmed, which is still the greatest flatland edit ever done IMHO. Great to see this.

  5. God if we can criticise him publicly then Phil then why the hell post the vid up for an opinion in the first place its open for discussion hense why its here , its not negative its constructive there’s no personal insults , riders in the spotlight should be able to listen to any form of criticism its their job they are not gods, we are not all arse kissers like Trevor ( i quit for 10 years then started again in 2000 because it was popular) Lacey i personally prefer the riding here than all the half cab stuff he does now , just to note : Cab is a skate move from years ago invented by Steve Cabellero skate legend patented move no royaly rights give him props he deserves it .

  6. I agree that Matthias prior to the tattoos was incredible. He was seriously
going off during this time period. The video of him from Hungary from 2007 is fucking bonkers as is this one. He was pushing the limits of both difficulty and creativity and that is what flatland is all about. Getting a bunch of dumb tattoos, wearing tight clothes, and doing intermediate level street tricks is about as trendy as it gets these days. Being trendy is something flatland has never been about. Most flatlanders ride flatland because the sport gives them the freedom to be an individual, and not one of the trends. Anyway, I think if he had continued down the path he was originally on he would still be blowing all our minds, but somehow I feel external influences have turned him into someone who he really isn’t. I think the real Matthias is the kid in this video. The one with a small backyard riding spot at his house trying to do whatever the fuck he could on a bicycle and succeeding tremendously.
