Must Watch! Going to X-tremes – The Billy Borys Documentary

Going to X-tremes – The Billy Borys Documentary from Terry Proveda on Vimeo.

“At only 14 years of age Billy Borys left home and began a quest to become one of the best flatland BMX riders in the world. After a few years of riding, he got sponsored by one of the biggest BMX companies at the time, started entering pro class at competitions, and moved to the states to pursue his dream. ‘Going to X-tremes’ gives a glimpse into Billy’s life; from growing up with nothing to being on top of the world living his dream- and then having everything stripped away from him again. But one thing that will never be lost is his passion for riding. It doesn’t matter to Billy if he has a bed to sleep on or not, all that matters is that he can ride his bike.”

Great documentary by Terry Proveda.

  1. really brings a human element to the whole riding thing. It’s easy to watch great riders on the internet and in videos but they don’t seem like actual people. It’s nice to see the flaws in life, because everyone has problems. In a world of facebook where everyone’s life is on display, captured in still frames, they all look like they’re perfect, but we all know that’s not true. I’d love to see more of this kind of video!

    • That was a dope documentary and still is,hermano…every so often im watching it to remember the struggle to do what you want to do in life….i feel like Billy still rides and he will never stop….

      • TIMES 7 , Giannis . I had no idea about his story till this documentary . Love this cat’s riding , his drive and attitude . You’re right he HAS to still be riding …..I just wanna see ! Speaking of…….like Billy , you’ve juggled family , running your business …..STILL progressing the sport and your personal level .So mad RESPECT to you , also , cabrone ! FREESTYLER # 118 ?? I’m REEEEEAAADY . Still seriously tripping that you went FULLY dialed lacing lines , FREESTYLED back to back ……to back to back on FREESTYLER # 116 ……all raw , unedited footage . How many cats can nail THAT MANY lines back to back like THAT ! I love FREESTYLER # 116 and the tricktionary on BOTH wheels that it showcases……..

        • That was something ya really don’t see Giannis ! That many lines pulled FLAWLESS . Variety included with tricks , techniques in those many lines , too…..did you just hit record and session or was that all planned ??! INSANE , Giannis ….

          • Hermano the first idea was to make an edit 5 or 6 minutes like its a normal freestyler edit but with tricks back to back, without any montage….My goal is to press the record button on the camera and film for an hour or 2 straight without any play, cut and repeat….YOUare my motivation my brother on this thanks to your relentless, passionate and unstoppable progress in your magical garage or dojo like you say cabrone…..!!!With the help of Jesus i will make it happen soon…HE gave you stamina amigo and i feel i will be blessed too….

        • Gracias amigo for your love!!Thats exactly the reason i keep the Freestyler series continued….for riders like YOU my brother who live and breeth flatland…!!Freestyler #118???Just wait a couple of days and it will delivered right atcha, campeon!!Going to be really good…

          • Thank you , TIMES 7 Giannis ! Means alot coming from a rider in the TOP 10 ELITES in the sport’s HISTORY . FREESTYLER # 116 was RAD and even my two hour combo is NOT on the same level difficulty wise as FREESTYLER # 116 ! THAT stokes me to know my combo was your motivation for that episode . Ya have no idea what your words of encouragement mean to me , cabrone ! I look at your tricktionary and think AND know that if I lived to actually be 116 YEARS OLD……I’d NEVER reach a sixth of what you’ve learned , dialed ……..and were not even gonna talk about what you’ve CREATED in Flatland , haha….again , THANK YOU for the love , hermano ! You’re SO correct …..I KNOW that without JESUS ….I wouldn’t have the skill , stamina , or even will to combo like I do . ( plus being HEAVILY influenced by Jason Brown’s 5 Combos video section’s link ! ) JESUS makes it ALL possible ….I’m not the most skilled , confident , trained rider , haha…actually my riding is honestly about 20 PLUS YEARS behind the CURRENT rate / level of 2022 Flatland riding , haha….all cool though …I just session / ride for fun and am VERY grateful for JESUS’S grace …….and knowing , watching , and looking up to MANY riders like YOU , Giannis !! SALUD , BMX KING of Greece !!

          • STOKED !! You’re about to graciously bless me with FREESTYLER 118 # !! Hell YEEEESSSSS ! Can’t wait , bruv ……I’m really ,really AMMMPED that you keep the FREESTYLER series SLLLLAMMMMMING ahead . Year after year after year……INFINITE tricktionary AND originality . THANK YOU , Cabrone ! I KNOW it’s gonna RULE ! Hope you know Giannis that you’re progressing the sport with EVERY episode ….it’s as if the DORKIN series NEVER stopped . ( YOU ! ) Remember , man…….Brett Downs said on this site that KEVIN , himself……..watches YOUR videos ! Talk about CLOUT and RESPECT ! Love ya , G !!

    • He rides, but not at the level he used to. Some/a bunch of injuries caught up to him in recent years. He moved to western Canada and has been there since. Almost used up his 9 lives. He’s in the process of piecing a bike together again. Hasn’t had a flat bike for a handful of years, just mountain bikes for commuting to jobs. He took me under his wing when i started riding flat specifically. I was 17 and he was 25 at the time. We grew up in the same hood together over the years. After we started riding together and hanging out daily for many years we became brothers. I love and miss my bro allot. We’re still in touch but haven’t met up in a handful of years. Giannis is the first person I’ve ever seen in my life that can ride like Billy. Billy’s tricktionary is absolutely unreal just like G’s.

      • WOW ! Thank you for the history of Billy and you, BZ . No wonder you’re @ that NEW school level after not that many years of riding , haha. Man , that must of been super SLLLAMMMMED having THAT cat coach you through Flatland and become true amigos . Damn , I’d be STOKED to see any video of him now . Doesn’t matter the level …….he’s like a Edwin Delarosa type of legend . EVERYONE would be STOKED to see Edwin ride these days , no matter the level of tricks / lines. Please tell him that he RULES , to film anything , upload to You Tube or Vimeo even any social media if he has it……and that I to this day ( TODAY , haha. ) do some of the Cobain twitch variations that he used to bust out during his Rigid sponsor days ! PURE legend ! Damn …Jason Brown , r.i.p. , Billy Borys , Andrew Farris , Cory Stratychuk , Steve Roy , YOU , Steve Fong , Jaime Mccintosh , Greg Axford , Stephane Royer , etc, etc, …..etc ! CANADA , TIMES 7 !!

  2. I ran into Billy today. Was great to see him. Hes got a bike. Really an amazing rider and very very underrated. I remember that Toronto contest. Hes one of the nicest persons you’ll ever meet and super humble. I feel lucky to have met so many talented people like him.

    • Steve Fong , THAT rules / makes my day . So good to hear he’s got a Flatland bike , must means he’s riding . Stoked on that ! Billy seems very humble , cool . I’d love to session , chat with him . Steve , ALL you Canadian Flatland cats are and were ALWAYS skilled and creative . Watching ANY video with the Canadian Flatland riders featured and anyone can see you guys were 8 steps ahead every single year. The Infection , Canadians Eh , Allied , so many videos from as far back as 1995 scream my last sentence and PROVE it…….salud , Fong for being right there on the front line of the Canadian Flatland TAKE OVER ….starting in freaking 1989. To this day I’m heavily influenced , imitate and am driven to do long combos because of one of the Canadian leaders in BMX Flatland……JASON BROWN , r.i.p. him and all of ya’ll are the stoke to my mentality about Flatland as a sport / life style…….respect , TIMES 7..
