Old School Sundays a lil’ late with Ryuji Hora

Yesterday was my last full day in Colorado before heading home. Although I had this weeks OSS ready, didn’t have time to post it. So here it is a day late.

This weeks Old School Sundays is picked by Todd Carter, check out Ryuji Hora’s Wayne, New Jersey AFA Masters run, the macaroni to opposite decade at 1:25 is so rad!

  1. Had just moved to Jersey from LA, where I used to ride with Ryuji all the time, and Ryuji came and stayed with me for this contest. I had just split my hand open at work and thought I might lose a finger. When I moved to LA from New Orleans, Ryuji was not only the best rider I had ever seen, he was also one of the few people who would allow a rider from a different BMX stratosphere, skill and exposure wise, to ride with them and not condescend. On and off the bike, he was the man. My cousin and I were at this contest and carried the trophy out so Ryuji could carry his bike an gear. We still joke about how our five minutes of fame were used up when we got to carry that trophy and got all of the attention that followed it. Some poor kid got my cousins autograph who, though a great electrician, was not much of a bike rider.
