Great footage from the AFA archives for this weeks OSS, we go back to 1988 and the Ohio AFA Masters featuring Gerry Smith, Joe Gruttola, Krys Dauchy, Jeff Cotter & Steve Mulder. Lookout for Joe Gruttola’s infamous double decade at the 3:47 mark.

  1. Every time I see videos from this contest series i’m reminded about how massive that place is. I love Joe Gruttola’s casual approach to his runs too.

  2. This contest was incredible. So much insane riding going on. Mr. Smith didn’t have the best time as far as his contest run was concerned, but he won practice by a fucking mile. He was killing it. Once DMC entered the building and started going to work, the jam circle was rocking. Actually, it was a jam strip because these guys needed so much space.
The final runs between Joe & Jeff were a blast…they seemed to really enjoy the friendly rivalry & it was great to see them one up one another when it came down to a run-off for first place. Both dudes were super dialed and yeah, Gruttola was always super cool during his runs…it was just two minutes of fun for him.
I could go on & on about all the bombs that were dropped here (in contest & out of competition), but it would be a lengthy post.
