Seems like inspiration for the hitchhiker to me.
I think I remember hearing/reading that the hitchhiker was also inspired by the idea of a front wheel undertaker which is part of the reason that back in the day a real hitchhiker required that you rode in and out on different sides of the bike. I think I also remember hearing that the Plywood Hoods messed around with locking steerer/head tubes (along the lines of a locking break lever) to make a stationary front-wheel undertaker possible.
The trick in the video was known as a “Miami Overture” and it was invented (I believe) by Brian Scura who also invented the Gyro.
(I am obviously old. Time for my nap.)
Oops. BRAKE lever.
