Old School Sundays with Ross Smith

With Ross Smith at the Voodoo Jam this weekend, it only made sense to have a dig for some old Ross videos. Check this one from the Ice Rink contest on Long Island, 1988 or 1989. The man is a legend, tight jeans way ahead of his time, oozing with style and hard tricks!

  1. Ross, CHASE, Jesse, Pete Brandt – that guy is unstoppable massive props still rippin, DAY Smith, Eric Emerson, Cerra, Phil Dolan, Bill Nitschke,Meyer, Danny Meng, Chris Young, Chad, Bill Newman, Perry Mervar,Paul Osicka, Peters, Kuoppa ! those where and still are the guys, Wilhem is getting up there for sure – Moliterno and DMC where dope also. Kevin Jones is on another level, the almighty God figure no one will surpass him, word on that

  2. I forgot Jason Brown and Steve Roy ! those Canadians had it, Farris, Nathan, Boris / where the f… is Jason Brown ? did he die or something ? lol

  3. Osato quit,Miron quit,Brown quit,Farris quit ,Enns still rides i believe but legends nah maybe Miron still only one Chase Canada’s finest

  4. Rick Moliterno and DMC still ride loads ,Ricks doing flatland again at 47 ,Woody Itson,Martin Aparajo,Fiola,Dominguez,Tony Murray, etc all still riding hard in fact most of those early 80’s guys do still ride.

  5. Boris still rides, and dont forget Steph Royer,Cory Stratychuk,Travis Collier,Pete Olsen..Many underrated Canadian riders, lots still ride..Jason Brown is not dead btw.

  6. sure billy, Steph Royer, Corey, Dan Rigby ! Nathan Penonzeck wayyyy to many underrated Canadian riders / Jay Miron ! f… the guy is a legend, as pro as it gets ! nowadays Drew Bezanson and this guy from Qc Dub, Dave Osato you can’t mess with that guy. Jason Brown was soooo good come on ! I ain’t sure about Martin Aparijo though, I’ll rather say Dizz Hicks

  7. Dizz Hicks was a junkie ,Martin Aparajo was one of the first flatland riders along with R.L and Haro inventor of bar ride, cherrypicker etc but these guys are riders not legends ,what about UK’s Mike Canning vert rider

  8. Mike Canning ? Paris Worlds `89 ? Backyard jam 1994 ? one word / class then amazing style and HUGE airs !! 10/10 – I still have my doubts about Aparijo I’ll rather say Aaron Dull. Mate, I respect your point, from what I see you love BMX, it’s your life but I don’t totally agree with you on that one, life is such a complex exercise that often we have to turn the page many times on lots of things that we love and move on. for me those guys will always be considered great riders and even legends

  9. Mike Canning 1985 my backyard Jason Lunn ,Gerry Galley,Scott Carrol my old backyard very legends UK ,Arron Dull quit rad as he was Aparajo never quit ,Dizz Hicks was just a mess mentally even worse than me haha ,Ron Wilton ,Tinker Juarez first person to air a bowl circa 1980 .

  10. R.L Osborn “the Cid” / come on ! peregrine 48’s super pros ! you must know mate, he came up with the first freecoaster, a friend of mine had one of R.L’s Redline bikes… he later came with Hammer and Bully ! I have 101 tricks part 1 with him bustin’ in San Diego with Fred Blood. last week I got to see the 2hip saga, part 6 I think has the first 2Hip street comp, you know where Campbell pulls that insane 540 wall ride !! R.L is in there….And Mike Buff.. well actually you don’t get to see much from him, and that’s lame. Tinker Juarez wasn’t a BMXer from way back Howard, Stu Thompson era ? Pisto Pete was a kid mate !! Billy Griggs etc / Tinker Juarez…. that’s old

  11. R.L had this set up in his backyard, in the early 90’s some sort of a bowl whatever, by today’s standards well not up to the mark, but back then it was a blast, I recall this vid from Dave Parrick with Mike Ocoboc along Keith Treanor riding it ! Chris Day was doing some transfers with a bashguard or Sprocket on the spine, I think Treanor was riding along Slayer’s cover from Iron Butterfly’s In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, awesome cover by the way! …Kerry King sucks though, but that’s another topic…

  12. i do know thats why i mentioned him and its ” EL CID ” i know all the history Hammer,Bully, the xerox machine trick ,the Acs RL Edge tyre,The HP 48’S etc etc i know i know and i have all the 101 trix vids part 1 and 2 all the Rad t’v vids part 1 and 2 all the Vision Street Wear vids all the 2 Hip comps i have every old video going every one.
and his dad Bob his sister Windy who photographed for Freestylin mag along with Spike Jonze etc ,Bob was credited working for BMX Action mag ,WHAT Tinker Juarez rode BMX he’s a pioneer of bowl riding for Mongoose learn your roots man jeez, Stu Thompson invented the 360 out of a bowl in 77.Pete Loncaravich is no kid hes a huge guy , Kerry King never heard of her was she in Baywatch ?? yeah the ramp in Robert Louis Osborns backyard was in Bullys Slow Ride vid in 1990 Chris Days lipslides etc the vid feat Dave Parrick and Ocooboc and Treanor was not that ramp it was Mike Ocobocs backyard that was and that was Dirty Deeds video in 94.Anyway this could go on forever i’m outta here dude.

  13. Pistol Pete was a kid when Tinker Juarez rode, that’s how old Juarez is…. and that ain’t Mike’s backyard for sure, it’s R.L’s and it was built over some pool or something

  14. it was Mikes i was there don’t call me a liar i don’t have to justify it do you want Mikes E mail address for proof ?? i have been there in 1995 when i rode with S &M crewi stayed there ,R,L knocked his one down in 91 when he moved house that was in Redondo Beach, Mikes was in Huntington Beach ,pete loncaravich was no kid trust me he was a man he had more pubic hair than anyone and a moustache , thats it i’m done here its getting boring.

  15. just so you know it was built over a paddling pool at RL’s completely different set up to Mike’s which Mike and Dave Parrick built, Steve and Bob Kohl help build the ramp at RL’s.
