  1. HOLY CRAP this video/contest is out of hand!! Everyone threw down so hard in this, just unbelievable. Love seeing new names (at least to me) mixed in with all the more known riders just showing that even in the age of the internet, there’s so much more going on in flat right now than what we hear of and see regularly. Congrats to Martti and all the contestants! Mind is so blown right now I can’t even think of any favorites or placings, it was all too good.

  2. That video was tops!! Music, incredible originality, flatland is alive!!
Thanks Martti for putting this together!

  3. EEEEEEEEIIIIIIIAAACK !!!!!!! SO/TOO many HAMMERS to take in ONE viewing , this made my weekend , EVERYONE destroying in this , such a progressive/banging edit , THANX MARTTI !!!! Wow BIG E/ MARTTI must of been grinding their teeth narrowing down/judging that long list of entries !!!!!

  4. Congrats to the organizers and to all participants for pushing it hard. Its very good motivation for everybody to go out and push their self to the hardest!

  5. This gets me a million times more inspired than the latest contest videos. Creativity is the lifeblood of flatland–not being so consistent that you win every contest by doing the same tricks for 5+ years. Bring the new! Create!

  6. Thank you for all your comments and for all the support! It´s been amazing to witness this competition and feel the energetic vibes from riders who are very passionate to create and progress.

This was round 1. Let´s see what round 2 brings out 🙂

  7. I don’t know which is more impressive, ALL of the riding, or the act of sorting, organizing and then ranking it all! AWESOME!

  8. I thought the contest was suppose to have tricks one hasn’t done or posted. James White and John Yull essentially just did their instaclips. I didn’t see anything new brought to the table by them that is wildly creative from what they have been doing for a while. Plus is it really creative when we know what a person is going to do? ie John Yull doing decades, just decades. That cat is out of the bag already, how does it still hold weight. Is it really pushing the limit just doing simple modifications to things you’ve posted for months/years? I genuinely don’t understand their placings other than their relationship to judges.

    • @ Andrew Wickham – I speak for myself when I say this but whether I know someone well or not that has nothing to do with how I judge someones riding.
The only thing: if anything, I might actually be a little harder on them because I know their riding.

The basic concept of Master of Creativity, is lets say 50 people enter the contest with 2 runs submitted. That is potentially 100 new tricks to flatland!

We can’t control who submits what trick??!!

John Yull and James White didn’t score the highest, because they were variations on what have seen before from them. In John’s case he added the no handed smith to opposite smith as an extension of what Chase Gouin did in 95 but of course it’s brakeless. I haven’t seen him do that before, and in Jame’s case I have never seen jump from ankle death whiplash to the other side and continue the line. These guys post a lot also, so you can see their progression regularly.

This Round 1, and we hope people get the concept of bringing new tricks to the table and inspiring others to go out there and do the same.

      That’s all we can do…

    • To be completely honest, I could care less who “Won” the contest and I don’t think that the real end result is compromised in any significant way as a result of the standings. Contests are always going to be subjective to a degree, but , regardless of the “placing” issues, look at all of the creative and beautiful riding this thing brought to the surface! So long as people are being creative, and not doing all the same tricks as all the other contestants, there will be subjective influences to any outcome in a flatland contest. If you want there to be certain criterion, which could be cool too, develop your own event. In the end, the level of riding this thing cultivated was awesome!
