Sean Fontenot – Huntington Beach vibes Unedited!

A bunch of you love dthe Newport beach edit from yesterday, here Sean Fontenot gives you a lil’ insight into riding the boardwalk on a busy summer sunday. This gives a great perspective of what the beach is like, what the boardwalk is like, and the bongo circle thats always jammin on the weekends. Cali vibes!!!

  1. first of all :
Why would you want to ride in a public place like that?

i’m guessing its just to show off. And what kind of a perspective am i supposed to be getting from this?

If you’re a real flatlander: please dont do anything like this genius over here^. You will have people walking right into you.

you wont be able to concentrate because you will hit someone. and you won’t progress. you might get into a fight or argument with someone.

I’m guessing none of those things matter to sean fontant because his primary purpose is mostly showing off / ego-boosting/ validation /approval seeking/ etc.

It’s interesting you talk about the “cali vibe”. I guess he is like many Cali hollywood hopefuls. hoping to get their talents discovered and make it in the BIG TIME.

It’s so blatantly obvious that he wants people to notice him.

This is the biggest issue with flatland. people that ride to show off rather then progress.

look at bruno zebu’s edit. a million times better then this guy. and look at how crowded his spot is compared to sean fondant.

On a positive note. I like many of the edits this week. some were hhorrible as usual. . and the bike checks are so pointless. who cares what bike someone is riding. HONESTLY

  2. Anyone who films themselves, posts it on the Internet & shares it is “showing off”. The purpose of a lot of riders is to display your work (like any other artist). Sean has shown many many edits of his insane progression throughout the last year. He has shown numerous edits of him in secluded areas as well as heavily populated areas. These are web edits and done in different spots and different areas. It is difficult to ride in front of people let alone a crowded boardwalk. I give him props! And an unedited, no touches clip like this is awesome. I liked it. Sean- ride on bro…. Therapy- hate on bro!

  3. Dear Steve Lapsley,
your arguement is stupid. and your logic is an epic fail.

you are barely above beginner level yourself so i can understand why u would think his progression is ” insane”. trust me – it isn’t.

and archon. i actually ride and progress in flatland. I actually have the goal of improving myself in mind when i go out to practice. probably a lot more then you and mr fondant combined.

go back to my original post.t and actually read it : then u can tell me what part of it is wrong.

  4. Therapy you need Therapy hahaha you got issues son , how much is your head up your own arse you pretentious mug and people on here call me a hater so wot u fink your the god of flatland with your dictatorship crap haha you fool and thats me being nice .
Were you abandoned at birth and never loved or something ? total bloodclot t’raatid mwhahaha ,feel free to bite back boy coz your a nobody just another mouthy internet coward i’ve said my two cents worth .

  5. well if therapy would give out his real name and some contact information, i’m sure that would make a lot of people happy.

  6. Effraim is not letting me post. this is unfair. why am i not allowed to express myself. Flatland is all about self expression. why is my opinion being censored.

It’s not safe or wise to ride in a crowded area like that. and there is no excuse for it either. tell me i’m wrong. go ahead.

    • Therapy.

I don’t normally reply to posts where the person is hiding behind a screen name.
I’m all for self expression. But this was getting personal, you guys were just winding each other back and forth, you can do that “back and forth” crap on email. This is not what this site is for. I’m trying to cover flatland as best I can. Self expression about flatland is fine, about individuals is something else….

  7. well this place looks a bit busy but i dont think it is for progressing rather than make a small show as therapy said.
so personally i wouldnt ride in such a busy place because people passing are getiing in my nerves and i might hit someone by accident but i would do it if i was with friends and wanted to have some fun..so i agree with both sides and yeah just ride and have fun

  8. When I want to ride purely for fun without worrying about dialing in a new switch or some new concept, I ride at the beach. I meet alot of girls out there, aswell as alot of really good bmxer’s.

Martin Aparijo is there almost everytime I am, and sometimes he ride’s the same exact spot. Shaun Butler is always down the boardwalk. I’ve met alot of riders from around the globe who are on cali visits riding dirt at sheep hills or looking for street in OC/Socal.

I have come to the conclusion that I do not like riding in secluded places, with the exception being secluded places *in nature*. The scenery is very important to me as your atmosphere heavily affects your psychological disposition. While the people are not necessary, if you do it with the right mentality it is ALOT of fun! Very few people make a fuss about it, instead most are people who are inspired or at the least impressed by the concept of flatland. I rode at the same spot today for 2-3 hours and had probably 20-30 conversations with random people about riding, bmx, flatland, the xgames, and my personal story.

The bigger point that some of you are missing is that flatland is a niche, and ANY media exposure is GOOD exposure! So long as it isnt displayed with negative stimulus like smoking meth before doing a cherry picker, lol.

Riding at that spot has gotten me in several films/tv shows RIDING FLATLAND. Now how could you beat that? My personal motivation has lead me to expose your sport/art/whatever you want to call it ON A NATIONAL LEVEL! And im no pro! Im not matt wilhelm doing america’s got talent! I just found out I got published on Discovery 3D channel, with some clips shot in 3d!!! Waiting to get a copy of the dvd in the mail 🙂 🙂 🙂

If you want to call it showing off, that is fine by me also. I think its important to be proud of what you do, and to have the ability to display your talent in public infront of people. How else are you going to compete? Will you not be able to ride because you are so afraid of people? Are you suffering from some sort of social disorder? Be proud of what you do.

Effraim, if you want some help on blocking Therapy’s ip address or perhaps subnet, I would be happy to assist you. Im a IT guy and have alot of experience managing colo boxes and linux firewalls, which this vhost is likely hosted on.

  9. And Therapy, the only thing I will bother to respond to is your bit about showing off rather than progressing.

I’ve been riding flatland for 3.5 years and im starting to do things that I’ve never seen other riders do. The amount of progression I have displayed has been noted by some very talented riders. I say this not to boast, but instead to rationalize the scenario to you instead of just spewing a opinion without basis or facts, like you seem to do.
