It’s a good start to 2022! The Jeep Real Games final show just dropped a few days ago, with Yohei Uchino once again at the helm. Congratulations to Hiroya Morizaki taking the win for the second year in a row followed by Viki Gomez, and Naoto Tamaru.
The flatland segment starts at 33:30, don’t miss this!!!
Congratulations to Moto Sasaki taking the win at the Japanese Flatland Championships for the third time in a row, followed by Kio Hayakawa and Hiroya Morizaki. Hiroshi over at 430 came through with a video already for you all to watch! Pro Class starts at 4:55:34…
Loving these throwback raw edits from the legendary King of Ground contests, I don’t know about you at home, but I enjoy seeing the realistic footage with makes and falls included. This edit features the likes of Hiroya Morizaki, Viki Gomez, Martti Kuoppa and more.
It’s time to announce the winners of the 2020 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards, 2020 was a difficult year for everyone. Flatland as a community rallied together to make the best of these difficult, testing times.
We saw riders focus more on edits rather than contest placings, as a result perhaps the rate of progression was a lot greater than previously would be, those that wanted to compete took part in numerous online contests, and in between all that the FM exclusives made to 60 episodes in 2020.
What the future holds is unclear currently, the vaccines are getting out there, and we hope to know more by spring time which really isn’t that far away.
Let’s try, and remain positive and make the best of every situation.
It’s time as promised to announce the 2020 Flatmattersonline Year end awards nominations,
I felt there was a lot to say about the awards and the year, which a lot of the time doesn’t get covered under the previous text announcement format.
So, I attempted to make a makeshift studio feel in my front room during lockdown 3.0, and present the nominations, and share my feelings on the year as well as the reader choices.
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, and thank you to everyone who took the time to vote.
Winners announced: Sunday 24th January.

I literally just posted the results from the Jeep Real Games not even an hour ago, and the final presentation of all the finalists is online already! Yohei Uchino discusses the level of riding (unfortunately not translated), but you can work out the riding!
The riding starts at the 16 minute mark with Akira Okamura, Kio Hayakawa, Ryo and Yu Katagiri, Takahiro Enoki, Hiroya Morizaki (look out for his mind blowing new whopper move to steam!), and Naoto Tamaru!
The presentation like a TV game show style, is really awesome and a fitting way to showcase some of the best contest riding I have even seen. Congratulations to Hiroya Morizaki once again and all the finalists, absolutely mind blowing level!!!
I wouldn’t normally give the “Must Watch” tag for contest footage, but wow!
Credit where credit is due, this is the most cutting edge riding I have seen back to back in a contest like this. Heavy riding from the likes of the Katagiri brothers, Hiroya Morizaki, Naoto Tamaru, Kio Hayakawa, Hidenori Ishizaki and many more. If you didn’t even know, this like statement! “Japan is leading the way!”
This is just qualifying too, do yourself a favour. Put by an hour and just watch your jaw hit the floor.
It’s a good start to the week here on Flatmattersonline, TJ Perry came through with a couple of amazing full videos for us to get motivated.
I rinsed this Ares DVD Magazine back when this came out in 2008,loved the no-fuss mix tape type of feel this DVD has featuring York Uno, Hiroya Morizaki (everything Hiroya does!), Yoshihiro Shinde, Yoshiki “Hotoke” Uchino (his line at 19:19 is still unreal to this day!), Terry Adams (that Voodoo line at 11:55!), Hironao Doko, Calvin Tan, Fumiaki Okayama.
This is well worth your time today, you won’t regret it!
Man, I miss Flatland Manifesto! Shane Neville put so much work into these flatland video magazines, if you missed these it really is worth your time to sit down, and take all this in.Thank you Shane! Issue 1 featured the La Revolution from Toronto, How to Pinky with Cory Stratychuk, ESPN B3 in Anaheim, California (this section rules!), Art Thomason Interview and more. So much good riding, 19 years ago. Wow!
This weeks TBT is dedicated to the Carhartt flatland jam that went down at the Jugendpark in Koln, Germany. Featuring so much amazing riding still to this day from the likes of Hiroya Morizaki, James White, Phil Dolan, Alexis Desolneux, yours truly Effraim Catlow, Chad Degroot, Lee Musselwhite, Matti Rose, Frank Lucas, Michael Sommer, Michael Steingraeber and many more., Throwback gold today on Flatmattersonline this morning. I took a lot out of watching this one back and sure you will do too!
