The 2014 Flatmatters Online Year Awards for Edit of the Year in 2014 panned out much like the Rider of the Year category, Bombardaros by Martti Kuoppa and Viki Gomez took landslide victories in the Editorial Choice and Readers Choice Edit of the Year category. Over 13 minutes of quality modern day flatland by two of the finest flatland riders ever! I caught up with the both of them separately. You definitely want to read what these two legends have to say about the video and the background work and emotion that went into it! Respect!

Must Watch! Neon Media presents Essence!

Let’s throwback to 2003! Neon Media produced this awesome video entitled “Essence”. This era was a really progressive time for flatland. And a lot of times videos like this were the first time you saw the tricks some of these guys are doing. It’s fun to look back now and see how these riders styles and tricks have developed over the years. Go watch this, open your mind, maybe you’ll get some idea for something new for you to do today at your riding spot! Either way its a must watch!
Riders include James Kennedy (Cowboy squeak to halfpacker at 2:18), Gabe Kadmiri, Anthony Durbano, Erin Donato, Terry Adams, Ron Monis, Mickey Gaidos, Dave Petrin, Stephen Hearn, a young Terry Adams right as he was starting to blow up on the international contest scene, and Matt Wilhelm gets the final section.

Must watch! Jackson – Back wheel Destroyer!

As York Uno said in his FlatWebTV Interview, the future generation is looking good in Japan! Check this clip, from an Unknown Underground rider, Jackson from Gifu City. He destroys the back wheel, so fluid on the Raphael Chiquet scuffless body varial gerators and cabooses, this really does deserve to be seen! Liquid flatland! Stoked!

Must Watch! Alex Jumelin – The Style, The Life

Alex Jumelin: The Style, The Life from jim mckay on Vimeo.

Amazing new edit from Alex Jumelin, who’s had an amazing year!! Here what he had to say about the new edit:
“This is my 4th and last edit for the year, after the Winter edit by Matthias, the St. Martin video by Repier, the Freegun edit by Fat Tony – here is the SPMK edit by Jim Mckay. My goal is to show some progression in every one of those edits! The main evolution in this edit is the boomerang variation. A few years ago when I created regular boomerang from hang five to hang five I knew that one day I would have to do that trick cross footed and also one handed, and now it is done. Enjoy and thanks for watching.”

Merry Christmas!

Must Watch! Sam Foakes – Manchester November 2012

In Foake-us from James White on Vimeo.

How has there been so many good riders come out of the UK?…. There aren’t good spots to ride and we certainly don’t have good weather! outcasts of society, even by those who ride the same wheel size!.. maybe it’s the struggle, our stiff upper lip attitude, left over from generations past? i don’t know, but no one demonstrates this more than this man…..Sam Foakes a true English Gentleman! (unfortunately I deleted half the footage like an idiot but still…..Sam Foakes!! people!!) – James White
