It’s hard not to get nostalgic going back to The Green Mile, it turns out it’s been 5-6 years since I was last at this legendary riding spot for the UK flatland scene (search TGM on the sidebar of the website to see what I am talking about.
Yinka Thomas threw down a jam last weekend, with the help of Jason Forde and my schedule was for once free so attending the jam was a no brainer.
The forecast wasn’t looking too great, but it was worth the risk as it os October after all you just never know. As it turns out the weather forecast was pretty much bang on, with two heavy showers throughout the day enough for the ground not to dry all day.

Lookback: June – The 2016 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards

June got off to a banger with Quentin Pelorson’s Seeking Part 3 edit on June 2nd. From the opening downside whiplash pedal 5 stepped beautifully into x-ft halfpacker, this edit really caught my attention. Quite possibly my favourite line is at the 1:13 mark, I’ve already rewinded this part twice to work out what happened, I could go on and on here.

Nothing but good vibes this past weekend at the UK Flatland Championships in Birmingham. I made the trip up by train on the Friday, with just one change at Southampton, the train is on the doorstep to the Birmingham NEC venue.

When I arrived Matti was already dialled in with banners set up, PA ready, just the floor to clean again, and judging sheets to organise which I was one of my jobs to do. I’m still injured so I watched as Matti, TGM Maz and Chris Brook enjoyed an empty floor. Mario wanted to arrive early and get used to the fast floor, and even learnt a nice new line, flail boomerang to hang 5, looking forward to seeing how he develops that move. in the future. Chris coasted no footed manuals across the floor with ease and Matti who was suffering with a bad back was working on stemrollers.

UK Flatland BMX Championships Wheels and Fins

As I look forward to heading to Round 2 of the UK Flat Champs at the Birmingham NEC this weekend, I just came across this nice raw edit of the AM’s from the Wheels and Fins Festival featuring Yinka Thomas, TGM Maz, Remus Simion, Johann Chan, and Trevor Lacey.

A day in the Flatlife – TGM

Jason Forde just started a new youtube channel, Flatlife. And kicked things off with Iñigo Arroyo Gutierrez’s leaving jam at the Green Mile in West Norwood, London. Webisode style with Phil Dolan, Steve Green, Iñigo Arroyo Gutierrez, Jason Forde, TGM Maz, Remus Simion, Johann Chan, Keelan Phillips, and Vlad Shcherbakov.

The Green Mile – Circle Session

Great edit from this weekends session at the Green Mile in West Norwood, London, themed around the circle in the middle of the mile featuring Johann Chan, Yinka Thomas, James White, Phil Dolan, Steve Green, Remus Simion, Iñigo Arroyo Gutierrez, Tgm Maz and Jason Forde!

The Green Mile Jam – #SAVETGM

THE GREEN MILE JAM from 1WMBMX on Vimeo.

There is not much of a better excuse for a jam, than your local riding spot might be soon unrideable. The local council are considering changing the surface to a astroturf surface, Jason Forde and the TGM crew are battling the council to try and preserve this iconic riding spot in West Norwood, London. At short notice the locals held a jam this past weekend, quite a few out of towners made the trip to celebrate the Green Mile, including some tasty back wheel lines from James White. Plenty of good memories riding this spot over the years. Good luck to Jason and all the guys with keeping the riding spot going, so much history!
