This weeks throwback is dedicated to one of the best to ever touch a 20″, Simon O’Brien! This section from Chad Johnston’s Intrikat “Flatsphere” DVD that dropped in 2004, this part still holds up to this day! I regularly go back to this part for inspiration, thanks Chad and Simon for blessing us with this one!

Throwback Thursdays with Simon O’Brien
Back when this first dropped to help celebrate 6 years of Flatmattersonline I gave this edit the “Must Watch” tag! And for good reason, Just watch this edit, there are so many points that are worth rewinding in this edit. The first line that stood out to me was the 360 flip ride in a’la Andrew Faris to backwards halfpacker at 1:22, the nose manual full boomerang direct to backwards backpacker at 2:09, and the forward karl halfpacker stop dead kickflip to backwards halfpacker ender at 3:29 may all have us talking for years + Simon kills it on the deck of the ramps! Does it get any better than this? Simon is already filming for an up and coming flatland dvd with Stewart Munro, I’m excited to see what is next? This is incredible, hit the rewind and thank you Simon for taking the time to do this and share with us!
Throwback Thursdays with Simon O’Brien
Pure coincidence that the last two throwbacks have both been Intrikat videos, but what the hell! And why the hell not, Simon O’Brien is an amazing rider with one of the biggest bag of tricks in the game. Take this 2002 Intrikat Landescape A part is small example. There’s not too many riders messing around with backwards xft halfpackers and the blender line at 1:45 where Simon et’s the pedals round to switch into xft caboose on pedal is still amazing to this day! Well worth a re-watch or if you haven’t seen it, a real treat!

There is a timeless quality to this weeks Throwback! Simon’s part on the 2004 Intrikat Flatsphere DVD still and most likely always will stand the test of time, incredible front and back wheel riding with Simon’s unique style! No matter if you’ve seen this before, its worth a re-watch!
