The Flatmatters Year End Awards 2014 / The Must Watch edits of October!

Deadline for year end votes closes tomorrow afternoon at 3pm GMT, if you haven’t voted yet take a look what happened month to month during 2014 by using the Must Watch tag on the right hand side of the website. What a month October was for flatland!

Heresy just dropped a beautiful edit featuring the incredible riding of Alexis Desolneux & Sebastian Grubinger. Sevisual on filming duties, and Michael Sommer (Sonny Blake) providing the soundtrack.

I’ve been waiting to see this Aloha Jam edit, Bobby Carter explains all:
Aloha is the essence of relationships in which each person is important to every other person for collective existence. Aloha Jam is not a contest, it’s a BMX Holiday to enjoy the craft and the magic of the Hawai’ian Island of O’ahu.
All are welcome, as all are important….as you can see in the video we have old school freestylers, mid school, and new school flatlanders. We also have street riders on the scene sessioning a nice manual pad and working on flatground techniques.
BMX not only brings us to together to share in the art, but it also brings us together as friends – as a family – to share life experiences. The day after riding everyone went on a snorkeling adventure at Hanauma Bay, which is the base of an ancient volcano.
For those who attended, the Aloha Jam BMX Holiday left incredible experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime! See you at the next event!
Aloha and Mahalo!
Thanks to Derek Takemoto, Duane Franklin at Bike Factory, Kala Yasuda, and all the riders that helped make this event possible! SHOOTS! \m/

The second part of Dez’s Lost Tapes Pt 2 series just dropped filmed at the beginning of 2014, this had me hitting the rewind several times to understand what he did. Great technique and amazing technical combos from one of the worlds best riders currently, Dez Maarsen is on fire! Hit play and get pumped for todays session!

Yohei Uchino took the win at the Overground contest in Brazil, check out his winning ride once again…

We may talk about this one for years, one of the best battles of all time? Dub vs Ucchie at the Flatark contest in Kobe, Japan was a real treat!

Michael Sommer is back! It is always interesting to see what Michael gets up to creatively off and on his bike. Here’s what he had to say about “The White Room Project!”:
“We had the idea to make a video of putting together a bmx bike and making the music for the video only from the original sounds we recorded during the video shooting.
The sounds have then been processed and manipulated with different fx and tools like reverbs, resonators, delays and many more to achieve tonal and rhythmic parts for the final soundtrack.
The task was to NOT use any other samples, sound generating sources, synthesizers, drum machines or whatsoever.”

I don’t often give the Must watch tag for one trick, but this is worthy! At 2:17 Ucchie drops an absolute banger, rewind time! What a month October was for Ucchie, crowned World Circuit Champion once again, who’s going to stop him in 2015?
