Zach Shaw – Ride on Interview Part 3

A big part of making the iBMXff World Championships at NASS include flatland was this guy, Zach Shaw! And in this Ride On Part 3 episode he talks a lot of home truths, about invite contests, the older riders giving back, and a while lot more! This most definitely worth a watch, thank you Zach and Neil Waddington for tanking the time to share this with us all!

  1. hard to understand all the time that bloody accent but it’s very interesting.

Zach Shaw is talking about the UCI here.
DMC was taking about it in his speech when he got the BMX Hall of fame honors.
There is a labelled UCI world championship of BMX Park during the 2016 Fise World series.
There will BMX Park at the Youth Olympics games in 2018 in Bueno Aires (with the UCI label as it’s like that for all cycling aspects on the Olympics).

So it appears that UCI is gaining a place on the BMX freestyle.

It’s not directly flatland related (yet ?), but I wonder how and what the established flatland events organisers, riders and industry figures see the things right now and in the future concerning the UCI place. Effraim, maybe that could be a subject of a big article like you did years ago with “the internet revolution debate”? 🙂 just my 2 cents

It is a really important time in our sport, essentially there are two governing bodies now. The UCI and the iBMXff, I had a really long chat with Dennis McCoy at NASS about this. Which i won’t go into here…

I’m not sure who I would interview about this to get something meaningful, definitely something I’m thinking about….
