I’ve been noticing a lot of the Japanese pros, posting about “the blood order” and wondered what it’s about. Whilst I still don’t know 100 percent, I’m pretty sure it’s all about the new breed of Japanese talent coming through their amazing scene, and showcasing that.
I set myself a rule with the site a long time ago, that contest and jam edits can’t make a “Must Watch”, but this pulled me close to the edge, top notch riding and variety of styles makes this jam edit pretty much a “Must Watch”. I’ll sticky this one as deserves to be seen!
Watching this one on repeat, so much good riding. Looks like Yu Katagiri organised it? Not sure, anyone let me know details, get in the comments…
Of course the riding is smoking hot, no question. The video is interesting to me because with the scene it looks quite relaxed and not stressed, more like a jam than a contest, but also it has this quality of a celebration and a statement. Maybe it’s the title and your description that is leading me this way. More than just a pack of new young superstar talents (which is breathtaking here no doubt), you see a presentation of maybe more styles than i am used to seeing at a Japanese contest, like the multi-stubble duck guy, the double-foot elephant glide guy, really slow guy, really fast guy, some older school, etc.. It feels like an international statement… that they know they are carrying the torch of flatland in this era. (?) I’m sure i’m making too much out of it. But i know there are some uneasy feelings about having almost total Japanese dominance and we’re all adapting/celebrating/worrying/wondering/drooling in some ways. I’ll probably feel stupid for posting this later, haha. Cheers!
All great points John! Not sure what the format was for this event, for the most part the younger jaonese generation seem to be actively pushing progression, and also having a blast whilst doing so.
That comes across in the edit.
After a bit of digging, I believe Yu Katagiri and Jugen organised this event, so kudos to them!
Welcome to the NFO. New Flat Order.
Yes B! Refreshing in my mind to see so many styles, like John said, you got scuffing, rolling, bike flips, varials, pivots, so much going on. Feels so alive in Japan!
Atari Kadoi WTF
Agreed Morgan , the half hiker around the worlds, absolutely amazing talent!
Unreal Morgan!
