Interesting point Lee. Without fully knowing the answer, I would say its somewhere in between a breather and a safety net. If you watch a lot of his riding, you will notice that he scuffs different amounts on the circle k each time out of the spin. Which is why I think its somewhere in between. Its not like sometimes he doesn’t and sometimes he does scuff it.
i think its definitly to get safely in the trick. when you scuff you can better control the halfpacker out from a circle k. pumpin on difficult trick situations + being a bit dizzy after a spin like the hangten bw to fw spin is less easier.
for sure the look is way different without this little aspects (scuffing). i wouldntt like miuras riding so much when he would scuff more than 2 times in his combos, too.riding in future will be without scuffing, without pumping ( or at least less than 3 or 2 times) to use all the momentum of a trick to switch in the next.
Moto is sick but why he scuffs a half packer in the middle of a flowing combo baffles me.
Playing it safe?
I do think pumping out of a spin is one of the hardest techniques to master.
Im dam sure he could if he wanted though so maybe this is a safety net or breathing space for him?
or perhaps he just likes it lol

Yea exactly its always intentional and its actual scuffing not just kicks either.
I feel it must be safety as I imagine his consistency level would be greatly effected if he pumped instead as it would make everything so much harder.
It does effect the aesthetics of his combo a great deal though I feel.
Imagine if Uchhie scuffed a backyard every time he switch into it,
how different would his riding look? how much easier would it make things?
I actually think this is a huge point all judged should be aware of.
Totally agree with what your saying Lee. Your talking about high level pros, where lil’ details like this, make the difference.
