My long standing memory from my first contest turning pro, was Albert Retey’s winning ride at the World Championships in Limoges, France 1993. If you were there you will know exactly what I’m talking about, if not one of the classic runs of all time. Certainly one of my favourites, the music and the vibe from the crowd still gives me goose bumps to this day! Albert Retey, what a rider!
The annual Cologne contest is just a few weeks away, get hyped everyone! I know I am, when I think Cologne, Albert Retey’s riding comes to mind. Peep his 3rd place run from the 1996 Worlds at the Jugend park, legendary!
I believe the location and date is wrong, according to my memory this the Champion of Champions contest in Derby, not Alfreton. And the year is 1989 not 1990, that aside Albert Retey was always one of best riders to watch on the European scene, great to see this throwback today!
Albert Retey’s run from the Worlds in Limoges, France 1993 still gives the same feeling in 2017 as it did back then. This will forever in my mind be one of the best runs of all time, if you were and you soaked in the atmosphere, the music and the way this run built up you will know exactly what I am talking about!
