Day Smith then and now (97/09)

Day Smith kills it in this graveyard static video 1997, one of the most powerful styles ever in flatland, an inspiration to many pros. I’ve had the pleasure of riding with Day at the Intrikat jams a fair few times in recent years, hes still on it, I hope someone makes a new web edit that showcases all his new stuff, incredible!

Modern “day” webcam style…

Past World Champions: Andrew Faris 1997 + top three

Eindhoven 1997, awesome contest in the ice rink, Andrew Faris dropped this incredible run to take the win, Jason Brown brought his consistency and powerful style to a second place finish. And Martti Kuoppa won the admiration of every flatlander in the world, with his creative tricks, massive long combos. Take a look. Paul Roberts brought a great atmosphere to this contest, I remember having goosebumps watching this live. This contest basically started a few years rivalry between Faris and Kuoppa, and the progression of flatland boomed as a result.

Hardcore Radness

Loving this!!! I have these on video somewhere, golden videos, awesome footage of Pete Brandt, Ross Smith busting out, Claude Hickman who made these videos still rides…Enjoy…

Wilhelm’s Dan Comp ad out on Props video magazine right now

Matt’s Dans Comp commercial for Props is now available, Issue 72 to be exact. Here it is…Been a while since a flatland commercial was on Props, killer back speed on this back wheel combo, and much respect to Dans Comp for putting it out there exposing flat to the masses, great stuff!

+ This is the only bit of flatland in issue 72 mind you…

That one handed whiplashes edit..

Bram Verhallen is one of the most talented riders i’ve ever seen, I mean this video is ridiculous!! Yes its old, but it is timeless.. One handed whiplashes are hard enough, but he’s just making fun of them holding the camera like that!! Incredible control to do this..

Trevlon Hall on ESPN’s site

Brian Tunney’s done a great interview for the ESPN site on Trevlon’s quest for a legit flatland spot, the interview will come in two parts (part two tommorow), check out the link here:

More MK bangers

Continuing from yesterdays post about MK, heres two of arguebale his finest creations in flatland, these two links are monsters!! I honestly think he could drop these right now, and blow everyone away. Is it old, yes, but is is better (ie, creative/difficultly) than whats being done currently, yes!! What do you think?

Martti Kuoppa 2002-2003

I just got done watching this video of MK in and around his prime, when he killed every comp, and it left me with a thought, this guy was at the top, and he brought something to the sport to be at the top, he brought his own creative flair, almost all the tricks you see are either his tricks, or he’s added something to them to make them his own. This is a top pro rider in my mind. Im currently more stoked watching old videos than I am new contest videos, riders dont seem to have that creative spark currently, what are others peoples thoughts on this? Dont hold back now, lets hear it!

Style: Jay Jones

Jay Jones killed it in the late 80’s/early 90’s, first saw this guy ride at the Trier Worlds, cranked so fast into tricks, inspired many during the early nineties, first guy i ever saw do switch hand hang nothings, style for miles. Enjoy!!
