Terry Adams in LA
Yesterday Terry Adams landed in town for a TV shoot for the programme “Glee” along with Max Roth, Ryan Russell, and some street riders. All the bikes have to be a dark red for the show, so Terry didn’t bring his bike, Jim Bauer at Odyssey built up a brand new ride for him for the show, which of course he’ll keep after. Yesterday was spent doing some sightseeing around the Hollywood sign, heading to the Odyssey HQ, then riding at the infamous Ralphs spot in Hollywood, and back to the lab as Terry had a 430am start today.. enjoy the photos…
Sunday it rained, so the sky was totally clear, so we hit up the Hollywood sign.

Flatmatters Day 3 in California
Yesterday was technically my third day in California, lil’ cooler, in the 60’s during the day, but i’ll take it, sure as hell beats the freezing tempertures and now snow I have left behind, a bunch of riders showed up today at Studio City, besides myself, and Bobby, Jowii Felix, Sean Fontenot, and a Studio City local Jonathan, Joii has improved so much since Jomopro, and was owning almost every time machine variation out there. Myself and Bobby were sessioning new tricks all afternoon, tommorow is going to be a small jam at studio city, with a bigger jam the following weekend. Next week hoping to hit a few different spots, see as much of LA s I can whilst im here. Heres a few photographs from fridays session…
Business never ends for Bobby.
Flatmatters in California!
On Wednesday I arrived in Los Angeles, California leaving the snow behind in Southsea, if I would have left a day later I would not be here! Got super lucky! Bobby has already posted a lil’ update of me arriving:

Below you can see Bobby working in the lab on the new Diversion Tv website. Today Bobby dropped me off at Studio City parking lot, and went back to work on the site.
I spent all afternoon at the Studio City, after about an hour Hollywood Steve showed up, we sessioned till dark. Today I was wearing in a new front tyre, and riding off the jetlag, but still a super fun session, later on Bobby showed up. Hollywood Steve snapped his chain and went down hard, signalling the end of the session. Then we hit “In and Out” burger as you do when your in Cali, roll on tommorow and the weekend, when a session is going down at Studio City. Aaron Frost and John Yull are heading over from texas tommorow, Terry Adams is coming over on Tuesday, Travis Collier on Friday, Cali has a steady traffic of riders coming through, good times ahead….

One Love Jam Jan 15th 2011
Darin Wright hit me with news of a So Cal jam, I’m about to hit up Studio City myself! If you want to escape the winter, this is the place.
“What a great way to start off the new year, by having a jam. The One Love Jam is going down at Studio City January the 15th 2011. It’s a 3 day weekend, so you can get your ride on and do a little bit of site seeing also. This is a jam, so theres no classes, and no pressure. All ages are welcomed. We got some love coming from Innertwine Clothing, Deco BMX, Profile, Diverson TV, Neon Media and Primo.Come out and check out Southern California, if you never been, then you should come out. The weather is always nice and theres tons of riders all over the state.
The Jam will be held at Ventura and Camp De Cahuenga. Google map the area, the spot has enough room for every style of riding. I will keep you posted for more updates.”
Flatland on Vietnamese news
Sadly can’t understand a word of it, but for for those of you who can, this is a great feature!
Flatmatters is two years old today!
Today “flatmattersonline” is two years old, a lot has changed in that time, when I first started the blog, I didn’t know of any other flatland blogs, there was only the global-flat website that I recall, two years on, there are almost ten blogs/websites flatland related that I check daily, and maybe you do to. This is healthy for the sport.
During these two years I hope some of the content has inspired you to go riding, that is the whole reason “flatmattersonline” is here.
Many of you may not know the name flatmatters began ten years ago, and originally appeared at King of Concrete 2000, on a t-shirt design that I collaborated with Adidas with that read “Flatlandmatters” (on the front), @ King of Concrete (on the back) in a Franklin Gothic font, the graphic was inspired by The Guardian newspaper, google it if you are interested.
The name flatmatters originally had two meanings, the obvious, flat is important, the second, discussing topics flatland related, this became more meaningful when Mark Noble at Ride UK asked to start a flatmatters page in his magazine. As you all know Ride Uk dropped the flatmatters page towards the end of Mark’s reign as the editor, I’m now thankful for Mark’s advice to start something online. These two years have flown by, and fills a creative outlet that I lost via the magazine, and is so much more than the page. So much so, I can’t imagine going back to just doing a page in a magazine.
I’d like to thank everyone that checks flatmatters regularly, I’m stoked the blog has gone down well for most of you. The process of organising new articles and researching different topics through to a final published article has been a huge motivation for my own personal riding.
Two years and counting, flat does matter.
