“For this episode, Francois sat down with Dustyn Alt from Leipzig, Germany. They discuss his humble beginnings, the German scene, his early influences, who helped him out, practicing hard, the jump to the pro class, what to do to grow the scene, the business side of BMX Flatland, how to live off your passion, his video work and so much more!”
So cool Dominik telling him to ride in a less perfect spot.
I always thought he was from Chemnitz, which is the old industrial city of ex East Germany. Tough place. Also boxing capital of ex East Germany, cool when he mentions boxing.
Nice! I like his advice for people to just communicate better and talk with each other better. Definitely better than talking behind people’s backs. I don’t think the style of bike we ride has any impact on kids getting into the sport however–I think it’s just as likely for a kid to get stoked on a weird looking quirky flatland only machine because it looks so unique. Either way, I haven’t seen any evidence that the style of bike that we ride has any influence on getting new riders into the sport. But I like Dustyn’s attitude and how he’s just sharing his opinion on certain things and like it’s fine to think differently. That kind of accepting way with others is a much better way to build community than to dictate to folks how they need to do it.
