Must Watch: James McGraw & Pete Brandt / 50th Birthday Edit

James and Pete: 50 years flatland bmx from James McGraw on Vimeo.

People often ask me, “Effraim, why do you travel across the globe to ride in a car park (Parking lot)? Through my travels competing and visiting jams, etc, Pete and James have become two of my best friends in the flatland community. James and Pete both share the same birthday, April 10th (today), and James hired Jim McKay to put together this amazing 50th birthday edit that really captures not only amazing riding, but also the feeling and emotion behind what goes into flatland and our culture.

When people ask me that same question in the future, I will show this edit, and say these are two of best friends that I would never have met, but for flatland. Jim McKay did a great job putting this together and his professionalism gives this edit a movie like feel.
Not too mention having, Mark Eaton also contributing the soundtrack, I feel honoured to have contributed to this video with some footage of Pete shredding the Clocktower back in January.

Happy birthday James and Pete, thanks for all your do for flatland, and the inspiration over the years. This is truly awesome, go watch this now and soak in the flatland brotherhood experience!!!!

  1. James and Pete bleed flatland, and i’m thankful for the continued motivation over the years. Happy birthday guys, stoked you are both still going strong at 50!

Also, this is a great artistic grouping of video production and music… well done Jim McKay and Mark Eaton, grateful for your roots and wings.

  2. Happy birthday to both! You guys keep inspiring us every day! It’s amazing to see it! Also huge props to Jim for the awesome and epic video!

  3. I really enjoyed hearing the musings of this life long flatlander. A number of years ago I heard a flatlander say that “as strange as it sounds many of the best moments in my life have been while I was alone in a parking lot.” That resonates with many if not all flatlanders.
I turn 48 on May 1st. Happy birthday to two legends. In addition, if you happen to read this Martin, The Chairmen, please give a shout out to my friend Jeff Gingrais who back in the day styled his riding after your greatness. Ride on brothers.

  4. Happy birthday to you both. It’s great that you enter the 50 club ( l’m 53 in June) and l’m sure you’ve many more years. Thanks for the contribututions. A racer, thinking as a racer, once said to me, you’re too old, that was at 30 & I’m still goin. Take care and Happy Easter.

  5. Nice video and nice riding (love the Eaton music). Not to take anything away from the riding at all, but I almost enjoyed James talking about riding more than the riding itself if that makes sense

    • @Oilslickninja – Totally get that, like I was saying in the description I feel this edit has a movie like quality to it. Its something you could show people who do not ride and explain what we do. We definitely need these kind of edits as well as the hardcore riding edits.

  6. Such a great video, those two legends are a big inspiration to many riders, James words define everything we do when going abroad !!!

  7. Both of these guys are such good dudes, and incredible riders. It makes me feel really good to see them getting some love here. Thanks ya’ll!
