I have many conversations with riders across the globe about video parts, and the importance of them. Last year I had a conversation with Viki Gomez in Riyad about this subject, and how video parts help shape our scene, more recently throughout the past years that has died off with the rise of social media.
This conversation struck a chord with Viki, which I didn’t know about about until Rise 7 arrived in my inbox, Viki’s riding is of course off the hook, as he more currently pushes what is possible on the back wheel with signature Viki Gomez style and finesse that comes from years and years in the trenches, let’s bring the flatland culture back everyone!

Most of the ideas in this video weren’t planned, hey came together in the moment. That’s what I love most about riding: letting FREESTYLE happen naturally.
Over the past months, I’ve put a strong focus on riding on the back wheel. That simple decision opened up more possibilities than I ever expected. Sometimes less really is more.
Nothing fancy. Nothing fashionable. Just the reality of everyday sessions, dedication, frustration, progression, and the motivation to keep pushing.
This is what real Flatland means to me.

Thank you Viki, firstly even taking my conversation to heart, thats really something, but also a professional rider taking the time out of his busy schedule to show what he can really do outside of the contest setting.

I absolutely love video parts over insta clips for sure. It allows a rider to present their craft in a way that is much more personal and not just like there one moment and gone the next.

As a professional rider, I sometimes felt that I had to keep doing certain tricks because of their score, history, or competitive value. But at some point, I started asking myself a simple question: Do I actually enjoy doing these tricks anymore?
At the beginning of this year, I made the decision to let many of them go. Sometimes you have to lose something to gain something even greater.
Honestly, I’ve never enjoyed my sessions more than I do now. I’m in a way finally doing what truly inspires me today, not what I feel obligated to do.
That’s what keeps freestyle alive.
That’s the freedom of freestyle for sure! Not having to focus on contest runs and just do tricks that you want to do because you want to do them. This is where originality springs to life. Rad to see you still pushing it at this level!
Half way through this and it’s slams you can really see his freestyle and these lines are not only progressive and hardcore they’re Gomez signature and have that flow with difficulty that keeps his rise series ascending with every edit gotta peep game on this more and comment more later he’ll yeeeaaah must watchthank big e

I don’t know what it is but Viki looks like he’s riding a rolling straight line style even though he is indeed going in circles. Since he’s not spinning like a tornado it’s very easy in the eyes. Just because his style now is easy to look at doesn’t mean anything he’s doing is in fact easy, absolute HIGH difficulty switches and bike flips!!!
