  1. haha yes Trev like it,like it, nice run very fluid but i hate to be a killjoy no really i do but i’ve seen it all before years ago ,some Jeff Desroche links in there from 2006 .
if thats the winning run then the others must of been s*** then ( judges controversy has started ?, and if 180 endo’s to half cab bar spins make a winner i may enter next year then lol.

  2. Howard…no one in the flat game can halfcab 540. that right there is huge, but because it is dialed and first, you over look it.

Half cab whopper to time machine isn’t too bad either…haha.

  3. Steve: I was doing fakie overcabs (540) after 2 years of riding flatland. Its not that hard of a trick and you are very mistaken on that. I can think of atleast a few flat riders off the top of my head that can do them, and im sure there’s 100’s more that I dont know about. Also that fakie bar out link he does is really below his talent level. Little kids do hop bars all over the place now and days and intergrating it into flatland is not that smart unless you can ‘keep it going’….maybe if he did a fakie truck driver and landed fakie and kept a link going….that would be big big big. Im sure he’ll get there he’s a very talented rider 🙂

Half cab whopper is also not that huge of a trick. This isnt 1997……it was a contest winning move back when Andrew Farris was doing it in the x-games. Also it wasnt to time machine because his wheel touched….they were seperate tricks. Yes we all know he can do them but if he didnt do it he didnt do it, and it shouldnt count as so.

I think the reason flatland judges give this hopping power/pedal style of riding higher marks is because its a new style to flatland and new styles and tricks *always* seem harder than they really are, because most people cannot or will not learn them. People will always judge the things they cannot do at a higher level of difficulty because the difficulty in their minds is higher than the reality of the trick.

I would like to see the other runs before reserving judgement, but if dez and dom didnt have touches then they probably had a higher degree of diffculty in their run considering what they usually do.

  4. Oh fuck yea parker!!!! I liked how it was non-conventional, meaning the way you used ‘swivling’ and the rotation to shortern the barspin itself. Efficient creative riding and above the game in 2005!!!

  5. Congrats to Matthias. He did what he had to do to win. If other people had done more he would have been forced to do more.

I agree that some of stuff wasn’t that hard at all. All of the street inspired stuff was really quite easy.

    BUT

He did that cab whopper to time machine, the flip to no scuff tomahawk was pretty original.

If that’s what it took to win then you can’t give Matthias shit about it. It’s a contest where playing safe has to be balanced with doing difficult and original stuff. It was a good run.

  6. There’s dom’s run. I personally think his run was much more technical and difficult. The 2nd big link he pulled he had some very very big around the world jump switches.

He didnt really have more touches than matthias.

I personally think the only reason dom didnt win was over variety. He had the harder links, even with brakes, IMO.

Paul: He didnt do a half cab whopper to time machine, the front wheel touched down. It was two seperate tricks. A ace is a ace and a spade is a spade.

And yea i think everyone agree’s with that bullshit song. More social regurgitation made into media in a empty pitch to make money.

  7. the song for dominik’s run was almost equally as poor for a flatland run. I honestly think the riding quality would have been a lot better with better music choices, i mean those songs did not flow with the riding in the least bit it almost made these videos hard to watch. you would think they would have a more legit dj for the umm WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. and considering matthias hit that x-foot half packer link for the win last year i guess i was a little disappointed when i saw he won again and didn’t see an intricate style flatland banger on that level, but respect to the street style flatland banger at the end of the run the front tire barley grazed the ground give me a break and that peddle to peddle time machine was smooth. a trick worthy of gold. but hey thats just some two cents from an amateur.

  8. Also….does anyone know if there were rain issues? I know it rained on some of the events….but was it sporatic throughout the flatland? were some riders affected and some not?

  9. why dont you join the contest and beat that kid and show that you’re better than him rather than making any comments…

  10. Congrats to Matthias on the win. He is such a great rider. I will say this though…. if Dom ever starts working the back wheel too, then it is “game over” for everyone else! Dom’s front wheel links are so intricate and smooth. If he did the same on the back wheel too, then I could see him winning a lot of gold medals.

  11. Things mentined during the judges dicussion to find the result:

    difficulty
    variety
    consistency
    overall bike control

Every rider has the chance to bring his own music. Dominik and Matthias chose to do so.

  12. Matthias was ok ! let’s cut the drama with Matthias… what sucked was weather and the people behind the worlds ! there’s a total lack of respect for all the guys (riders) who made it, and even the spectators. That whatever place isn’t an appropriate scenario for such event, find an indoor place, provide the people and riders with a tent, cover or something. It’s always the very same thing with those dudes !! worlds, masters in Germany always delayed, canceled f….. that sh.. / riders even flew from Argentina, Brazil to Kol, and that’s $$$$$$$$ and like a 18-20hour flight ! they built these ramps etc for what ah? there wasn’t even a vert comp ! nor the mini comp ! BMX worlds ??? yeah sure, show some respect first for the riders, no wonder why the songs were pathetic

  13. johnm

I so agree. I really dont understand why any major event across europe and england is still held outside. Yes this year is bad for the weather and rain but it still seems most times over the years at most events there is weather problems. I dont understand in the year 2012 we still think europe is some where like America where we can garanty the weather.

  14. where were the yanks and uk pros? its the world champs for christ sakes .i know it costs but the companys that these guys ride for should help them out way more

  15. Steve: You’ll be waiting forever. I see absolutely no point in learning how to dial fakie 540’s unless its for off a stair set or some other obstacle in a street session.

I have something coming up in my next video that is very much harder than a fakie 540. You can feel free to reserve your judgement, its only a week or two away.

And for the record, both of these are *also* ALOT harder than a fakie 540:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV-oxeZ1M3E
    &
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOr8uE5wg-0

There’s a big difference between hucking a trick and finessing a trick. A fakie 540 is just that….rollback, lean to the side to preload your launch, and HUCK IT.

If you have criticism on it, why dont you learn it yourself instead of writing hater comments behind your computer screen? I can do both tricks and I feel educated enough on the matter to make accurate judgments.

Feel free to post your own videos that you have of you doing ‘street style’ flatland that entitles you to YOUR opinion. Oh whats that, you wont post any….? Yea thought not.

  16. LOL @ how highly sean thinks of his own riding.
Your not really as good as you think you are.
If i wasn’t an anonymous troll – I’d whoop your ass.

  17. yeah nice riding Sean.

but not to hate you bro. it is still its not enough to beat Matthias Dandois if you think his tricks is not that hard. and not to mention the “OTHER” tricks of MD,

lets stop hating if he wins, coz we all know with-in our selves that he is also a great rider. just accept it..

    peace

  18. “Dont feed the trolls kids….”

Ok daddy, what ever you say! We’re so fortunate to be guided by a supreme father figure, thank you for your service.

  19. Paul: Wait, what!?!? Where did I ever say that I could beat Matthias!? You guys are insane, dont put words in my mouth.

We were discussing the level of difficulty between dom dez and matthias and someone mentioned ‘fakie 540 cab’. This was a discussion on the fact that a fakie overcab is not really on par in terms of difficulty with the rest of the flatland bangers or runs being thrown down on the competition floor. Dom’s around the world jumps are way way way way way (so way, that its on another plane way) harder than a fakie 540 (overcab).

The point was its not a trick that is on par with the talent at that level: World champion flatlanders.

I’ve seen street riders do 540’s *forward* on flat ground, which is alot harder than backwards.
