Stephan Hearn Bikecheck!

Intro: Effraim
Bikecheck/photos: Shayne Khajehnoori

Stephan Hearn is one of my favourite riders. This guy is pure beast! If you watched the Vancouver jam edit yesterday, you will have noticed the speed and buttery Stephan connected the backwards backpacker xft hitch, xft halfhiker to halfpacker line, classic line, that no one does! Stephan recently got on S&M Flow, Chad is building up an army. And this guy deserves to be in the army! Chck out his ride, dialled! Aooosssttttt!!!

Frame- S&M intrikat 19″
Fork- KHE Tanaka fork
Handlebars- Kgb
Barends- Primo
Stem- Quamen
Headset- Primo
Grips- Revenge
Brakes- None
Tyres- Primo Comet
Tubes- Tip Plus
Pegs- sequence
Seatpost- Thomson
Seat- Khe Watanabe
Chain adjustor- Quamen
Chain- Kmc
cranks- Primopowerbite165mm
Sprocket- Profile? 23t
Pedal- Primo
Rims- Odyssey 7ka
Front hub- Primo n4
Freecoaster- Nankai with Profile Shell
Spokes- Stainless steel 14g

Anything specific for my ride- I got to have 120psi, a tight chain and still like having narrow short bars despite the big bar craze.

Sponsors- Onelovebmx, Stefano at Primo/Tip-Plus, and S&M flow.

Advice- When starting out you dont really need anything specific just both brakes a gyro and 4 pegs. Learn thebasics as your skill evolves, then set your bikeup to the style that you develop.

Lee Wilson S&M Intrikat Bikecheck!

Fork: odyssey flatware zero

Rear wheel: Alienation delinquent with my 2006 geisha hub

Any modifications?
I filed out the rear dropouts so i could get the right tension without a chain tensioner,
I run my bars level with the headtube i know many people run the bars forward but i have my bars backward 50% of the time
I run the stem upside down to get a little more height

Any advice to beginner setups?
Try thin and fat tires, dont be to tempted to run your seat super low, try everything see what works for you.

Simon O’Brien – Colony Deja Vu Bikecheck

Simon O’Brien is unfortunately not a name we here often enough. Perhaps maybe thats a good thing. What is for certain, is that Simon is one of the best riders of all time! The man has a trick bag bigger than anyone I have ever seen face to face. He recently was invited to the 2012 Red Bull Circle of Balance in Japan! Whilst he was over in the land of rising sun recently I caught up with him for a lil’ bikecheck!

Matti Rose Bikecheck!

Intro: Effraim.

Many of you might not know the face behind DeepBMX, Autum Bikes and the new Bloody Shins Webstore. The guy that brought flatland back to the annual Masters/Worlds contest! That face is Matti Rose! Matti burst on the flatland scene around 1998/99 on a blue GT Show. Matti is perhaps best known riding wise for his signature backwards timemachine flip to upside down megaspin.
As always I try to cover a large spectrum of riders and styles to keep things fresh. Nowadays Matti is well overdue some coverage, peep his pimped out Autum ride right here! Thanks for all you do for flatland Matti!

Shayne Khajehnoori Bikecheck!

Intro: Effraim
Photos: Darin Wright

Sometimes I feel like dudes are overlooked in the flatland scene, and I am guilty of it myself. Case in point right now, I’ve seen Shayne Khajehnoori quietly going about his business over the last ten or so years. Of course many of you will know Shayne for his videos under the Neon Media label. Nowadays Shayne is killing the back wheel over in Nor Cal. This bikecheck is well overdue!

Anything specific to you that you must have on your own ride?:
All my bikes have Revenge Dakine grips on them so I can absorb THC through my palms while riding, far out! I also have this crazy bracelet woven by a gypsy wrapped around my rear hub which transmits power & energy into my rear wheel (mostly it keeps the Profile shell clean).

Advice to beginners on bike set ups?
If you’re just starting out, experiment with different setups and find what works for you. I would recommend, in the beginning, not setting your bike up in a way that would limit the types of tricks you learn. Learn a variety of tricks, so don’t be afraid to try a variety of setups. Don’t be afraid of brakes, high seats, under 9″ bars. Sometimes the trendiest bikes aren’t the easiest to ride flatland on. Whichever way you set your bike up ultimately does not matter too much; how much you ride your bike and how much fun you’re having is the most important.

Yorimitsu Miyata Bikecheck!

Intro: Effraim
Photos: Yorimitsu

To me flatland is at its best, when the individual paints his own picture. And that is what I see with this guy, Yorimitsu’s riding is inspiring, and at a time when 90 percent of the flatland scene is brakeless. He is using brakes in a new way, exploring new concepts and his riding stands out above most in my eyes as a result! Check out his ride, and also the short edit below, unbelievable bike control from this artist on a bike!

John Yull Bikecheck!
