Two great edits today for you to digest, both for different reasons.
Here’s that Terry Adams had to say about his new documentary:
“On the first day of 2021 I wanted to give you guys some insight of what my daily routine was for 2020. My goal was to give it my all. On and off the bike I worked my ass off. I’m extremely happy with my results and how much I’ve progressed as a person and a rider. Check out this 22 minute raw documentary filmed in one day that takes you through my daily routines, reasons for pushing myself, & my mindset behind all the motivation. Filmed & edited by Mickey Gaidos.”
If you didn’t already know Mates Tuček is one of the most skilled riders in the game, I have had the pleasure to ride with Mates for a week straight a few years in a row. His trick depth is like that I would expect of a 50 year old man, he can do it. Just what this edit filmed from between 2018-2019, and I am sure you will agree. I will however, say the music is on mute….
Let me also say right here, congratulations to Mates and his girlfriend who just celebrated their first child together. Beautiful!
When you have an hour and half to kill, watch this!!! This is so good, Shaun Jarvis, Paul Chamberlain and Joe Cicman and James McGraw discuss the results in each class from the Down UnderGround contest. I’ll leave this stickied at the top of the site as it deserves to be seen!!
2020 DownUnderGround , the Australian BMX flatland championships number 12 was a video only contest, open to all riders around the world. With the current global situation with Covid -19 travel restrictions are in place around the world and earlier this year within Australia. This made organizing a national contest problematic. We could not set a date as we never knew if or when travel restrictions would ease up in Australia and or if riders would even want to travel interstate with the current conditions. As DownUnderGround has had a video round as part of the contest for many years it was a easy decision to make 2020 a video only contest. To make the video even more special we had our contest judges live announce over the video after they had judged the video contest and the riders were placed in the video according to their contest placement. Thanks to Shaun Jarvis, Paul Chamberlain and Joe Cicman and James McGraw.
The format of the contest was easy, riders submit their video as if they were riding at a contest. No edits or multiple clips, one continual run, no less than 1 minute and no more than 2 minutes. Each rider’s video was judged by three judges using the DownUnderGround contest format. Each judge scores each category out of 20 points;
Difficulty – How difficult and complex the tricks are.
Consistency – How consistent the rider is in pulling the tricks within the contest run.(feet down, foot dab, smoothness of run)
Variety – This is left up to the judge’s discretion on what their own interpretation of variety is. This can take into account range of techniques (spinning, turbining, rolling, scuffing, stationary, pumping…) variety and range of tricks, types of tricks, combinations of tricks, front and rear wheel usage, backwards and forwards.
The best possible score from one judge per video run is 60 points. The three judges points are added together to determine the winner and place getters.
Due to the nature of the contest we knew we would get many international riders entering than Australian riders. This just made the contest so much more rad. The level of riding around the world is amazing. Some many great riders being able to showcase their riding and their riding spot. Nothing but pure radness in the video.
Thank you to DownUnderGround supporters – Freestyle Now and Colony BMX
Raphael Chiquet recently just moved from Montpelier, France to Hossegor and made this feel good edit to remember the moment. Always a treat to see Raphael do his thing, he has new project coming soon. Stay tuned!
Winter in Colorado is not bad for James McGraw, James just had his workplace resurfaced and if you pay attention to the turbines and pivots. The resurface is paying off for James, way more conviction and momentum off each switch, this was a fun watch filmed in a session. I’m not jealous at all James!
It’s a great start to the year for videos, and if you want a feel good, let’s go ride kind of edit. This is it! Nick Watts always get my hyped, the way he moves around the bike, the idea and of course the tricks!!
Smooth backwards and forwards can can nose wheelies from Cn Ym in this lookback edit of his year. Well worth watching this underground shredder do this thing!
Who other than Brian Tunney would start an edit with a scooter undertaker? As always love seeing what Brian is up to, so much skill and depth to his riding that only comes after years of riding in the lot.
Sietse van Berkel is blessed with an indoor quarantine riding spot to get him through the winter and is taking full advantage. The pendulum pivot line at 1:34 stands out for me in this December indoor clips 2020 raw edit. Well worth a watch!
Bit late posting this, but being that it snowed here in Southsea this morning and it’s still the Christmas holidays why not post this? Martin Drazil gets in the Christmas spirit.
