Really happy to announce that the #MDopen is back at the Sosh Freestyle Cup again this year! THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE! As every year, it’s all about having a good time on the beach and showcase BMX Flatland at its best!
Location: Marseille, France
Dates: 21-24 June 2017
Invited riders: Alex Jumelin, Yohei Uchino, Kevin Nikulski, Moto Sasaki, Dominik Nekolny, Viki Gomez, Raphael Chiquet.
Judges: Alexis Desolneux, Frank Lukas, Remy Dunoyer.
DJ: Mike Rock will take care of the music!
MC: Kwet will be rocking the mic again!!
Prize Money 10.000 € (As previous year, if I’m lucky enough to win any money, I’ll give it back to the riders.)

BMX in general is at a very interesting point in its development. Fise have joined forces with the UCI, with a view to BMX park being included in the Olympics (if you listen to the press conference you will hear more.) Bart de Jong and Adam Kun feature during the PC. Fise Flatland is not in the UCI until next year, so it could go this way also. Stay tuned!

16-19th August – Budapest, Hungary
15-17th September – Edmonton, Canada
3-5th November – Chengdu, China

Exactly 4 months away! And for our 4th Annual Flatland gathering, we’re very excited to have huge, historic theatre with ice cold air conditioning! There will be a $5 entry fee to help cover the cost of renting the facility & added event insurance. For those that like to Freestyle and ride some Street/Park, the
legendary Bro Bowl (Perry Harver Sr. Park) is only a few blocks away!
This year sees the Tropical Session with a different kind of format for a “contest”: instead of the usual Pro/Am classes of other competitions,
the trials are broken down into 4 categories:
1) Best Front Wheel Combo
2) Best Back Wheel Combo
3) Best Front & Back Wheel Combo
4) Best “Old School” Trick/Combo
One Winner per Trial format. In the event of a “Draw”, there will be a Bonus Battle for a Tie-Breaker.
Riders can enter any or all of the Trials, with the potential of winning one, two, three or all four.

Round 3 of the 2017 French flatland cup is going down on the 20-21st of May in the South of France at the Arenes de Baillargues which is around 15 minutes from Montpelier. Alex Jumelin is co-organising the event, 2500 Euro prize money,and cash of best trick contest is also in the mix. Sure to be a good weekend, get there if you can.
Chris Letchford just gave me a heads up on the details for Round 2 of the 2017 Down Underground series which is celebrating their ninth year running, that in itself is amazing! Round 2 is going down on June 10th at Bridport Airport in Tasmania, get there if you can and support the contest scene down under.
Is it just me or does there seem like there are more events globally than ever, healthy for the scene for sure. And Leon Vignjević just dropped a line with a heads up on the annual Dalmatian Warriors flatland contest in Baška Voda, Croatia. Fancy a holiday, this could be for you!
