That’s a wrap on qualifying here at Bike Days in Solothurn, Switzerland. Congratulations to Matthias Dandois, who celebrated his birthday in style taking the first place spot going into tomorrow’s final. Matthias was followed by Jean William Prevost, and Dominik Nekolny. Congratulations to all the finalists! You can see the rest of the results above. Tonight, Battle of the Nations contest back here in the Flatland Arena.
Yesterday I started something new for the site, today we have the second in the “catching up” series with Dan Hennig. Another underrated rider in my opinion, I catch up with Dan to discuss the Bike Days contest, his opinion on judging, his new sponsorship deal, injuries and so much more. Great feedback from the first interview, keep it coming. Hope you all enjoy!
Trying something new for Flatmattersonline, I am out here in Solothurn, Switzerland at the Bike Days contest. Round 1 of the 2017 World Circuit, and it seems as good a time as any to catch up with some riders to talk about the weekend, the contest lifestyle, practise regimes, and so on. My first interviewee is We the People rider, Dustyn Alt. In my opinion, Dustyn is underrated in the contest scene, but more importantly than that. A great human, so much fun to hang out with every time I see him at contests. Hope you enjoy the first short interview.
With travelling to Bike Days yesterday my updates are a little behind as usual. Scott Powell uploaded his fourth clip/edit in his amazing Decade Anthology, today we have a decade to decade via the pegs finishing off with a stem decade out! Already this is a great series of clips, stay tuned for more later on today!
With time differences and all that, I am a little late posting day 3 of Scott Powell’s amazing Decade Anthology. And today we have a unique single decade variation, the un-decade!
Hidenori Ishizaki and friends welcomed Sietse Van Berkel to Osaka, Japan in style hosting an awesome jam with all the locals and visitors in attendance. Feel the good vibes throughout and plenty of amazing riding, some of the standout clips for me were:
Yuichi “ill” Tamiya – Backwards nannie for days switching ranks, regular, and switch, kick forward ending in a slow dump truck body varial line at 5:40! The control is out of this world!
Sietse van Berkel – opposite steamboat ride in line at 7:56, really liked the halfpacker step one foot crack mid way through!
And there’s plenty more aside from what I have highlighted, don’t sleep on this one! It’s an amazing week for edits for so far!!
Scott Powell’s decade anthology has most certainly got people talking both publicly and privately. Today, day 2 and Scott shows off a fire hydrant to triple decade, regular triples are still a big deal?! Well, this is opposite, that is crazy hard! Respect due!
Last week we published the trailer to Scott Powell’s Decade Anthology project, today we have the first in the series. Scott has been stacking clips for a long time, and rather than clips being lost in the overload of decade variations. He has taken an interesting approach and is releasing them one by one, and focussing on each move rather than a long edit. Great concept, I really liked the multiple takes on the double upside down. Here is what Scott had to say:
“Months ago I set out on a journey to compile some of the most advanced variations that I could do of a BMX trick named “Decade.” . After months filled with obstacles: trips, shows, work, injuries, and operating Chenga, I finally completed my project — The Decade Anthology. Due to the volume of variations I captured on video, I am releasing them in a series rather than one large edit. We embark with a throwback that I first created/pulled 16 years ago; in March of 2001 — The ORB.”
Master of Creativity is responsible for a lot of things in flatland currently, one in particular is the progression of Joe Cicman’s riding. Joe just released this short and sweet “A Collection of ABD’s” Part 4 edit, refining his style further, this is awesome!
