The first Must Watch edit of 2022, and it’s no surprise it comes from Jimalog’s latest!
What it must be like to be blessed with what certainly looks like one of the best flatland scenes in the world, great riding spot, variety of tricks on show, riders supporting each other, the list goes on. Whatever you like, it’s here!
Great riding from Akihiko Takahashi, Masashi Itani, Yu Shoji (don’t miss his clips!),
Takahiro Ikeda, Shuichi Osada, Kazuma Nakajima, Takuji Kasahara, Nariaki Kudo,
Hidenori Ishizaki, Takahiro Enoki, Shinichiro Hara and Hiroya Matsumoto.
Yu Shoji’s clips stand out in this one, not to mention it is so good to see some fresh Shuichi Osada footage!
I wouldn’t normally give the “Must Watch” tag for contest footage, but wow!
Credit where credit is due, this is the most cutting edge riding I have seen back to back in a contest like this. Heavy riding from the likes of the Katagiri brothers, Hiroya Morizaki, Naoto Tamaru, Kio Hayakawa, Hidenori Ishizaki and many more. If you didn’t even know, this like statement! “Japan is leading the way!”
This is just qualifying too, do yourself a favour. Put by an hour and just watch your jaw hit the floor.
Three days into 2020 and already a Must Watch! Jimalog’s Matsudo Year end jam edits are almost reserved for the Must watch tag, don’t miss this. Jimalog’s edit never disappoint, theres a couple of moments are literally screamed WTF this morning on my first watch and want to highlight these moments.
1:01: Shigary Salary. One handed Seat grab hang ten body varial/jump to one kick elephant glide to right sided halfpacker whip to left side halfpacker pivot out.
1:25: Akihiko Takahashi. Everything Akihiko does is beast, but loved the backwards xft hitch jump regular backwards hitch bar flip out.
3:05: Hidenori Ishizaki. On the front wheel, and slaying a exit move Cory Fester is infamous for. Hidenori mixes it up slightly, starting with xft hitch pivot to backwards backpacker to right sided backwards hafpoacker and bar scoots to backwards Karl (opposite side from Cory).
3:26: Yu Shoji. One of the moves of the edit without a doubt, the first switch I haven’t seen before. Opposite switch foot hang 5 dumped into right side xft halfpacker!
3:59: Takahiro Enoki. Saving the hottest moves till last, Jimalog know how to build an edit. Takahiro drops a bomb right here, inside switch b pivot two footed one handed cream regular stance body varial/jump to backwards two footed dump! pivot switch foot ice cream, the scream at the end is so good! This is flatland!
What a great end to an amazing edit, many of us dream of going to ride at that Matsdo spot one day. Seems magical, always great vibes and banging tricks coming out of the locals there. What a start to 2020!
A lot of history with amazing riders coming out of Vancouver, Canada. Matej Ceska just dropped this awesome edit from the annual Flatland jam that went down on July 21st featuring Cory Fester, Miyuki Dezaki, Francois Debroux, Percy Marshall, Billy Gordon, Joseph Kyllo, Nelson Yeo, Tall Paul, Jamie Macintosh, Hidenori Ishizaki, and Jean William Prevost.
Like I said in my review of Landscapes 1 last year, DVD’s in the modern era are a sad rarity in our scene from my perspective, during the last two years you can count those on less than one hand. Dane Beardsley’s Same thing daily project and IGI’s travel video are all we have had. Stewart Munro from Australia stepped up to the plate with an ambitious project to collect and edit together rider sections from all the planet, when you think about that in the modern internet culture and free edits available everyday it almost seems like a thankless task.
Thankfully Stewart stuck to the task which being so far away from all the other riders is I can imagine a tough task to collate together. The downloadable video straight to your laptop is catching on in other sports such as Skateboarding, more recently massive companies such as Adidas are releasing their projects for a small fee online. Will it catch on to what is essentially a small flatland audience? Only time will tell…
Landscapes 2 starts with a nice intro describing verbally the feeling of flatland and what it’s all about “it is a mirror that shows each of us who we are”. There’s always a unwritten formula to making a DVD, banger section to start, middle and the all important who got the last section. Would this follow suit, 52 minutes long let’s get into this!
“Landscapes 2” is a new full length video showcasing some of the best flatlanders from around the world. Featuring Bert Ribul,Brandon Fenton,Chad DeGroot,Hidenori Ishizaki,Koichi Forkone Higo,Paul Chamberlain,Raphael Chiquet,Shinichi Kiba,Takuji Izumi and Simon O’Brien.

Let’s kick off our thursday posts with some more coverage from the underground Saga contest in japan. This edit was put together by Hidenori Ishizaki, who manages to capture the vibe and a ton of great riding to boot!
Hidenori Ishizaki and friends welcomed Sietse Van Berkel to Osaka, Japan in style hosting an awesome jam with all the locals and visitors in attendance. Feel the good vibes throughout and plenty of amazing riding, some of the standout clips for me were:
Yuichi “ill” Tamiya – Backwards nannie for days switching ranks, regular, and switch, kick forward ending in a slow dump truck body varial line at 5:40! The control is out of this world!
Sietse van Berkel – opposite steamboat ride in line at 7:56, really liked the halfpacker step one foot crack mid way through!
And there’s plenty more aside from what I have highlighted, don’t sleep on this one! It’s an amazing week for edits for so far!!
