Not even a tsunami warning could stop the 2022 One Love Jam, and Darin Wright came through with this awesome edit showcasing some of the riding that went down in Newport Beach, California. Don’t miss this one!

12 Years into running Flatmattersonline on Friday 27th November 2020, it was time for something new for the site.
After various conversations with my co-host Pete Brandt during our lockdown here in the UK, the “Flat Only” COGcast is born, the title “Flat ONLY” seemed to be the most fitting, and described the direction we both feel strongly about, Pete suggested changing “POD” to “COG” to keep inline with that flatland feel.
On the evening of our 12th anniversary, I got together via zoom with Pete Brandt, Bobby Carter, Jody Temple and man of the moment, Peter Olsen to talk about all things 12 years of Flatmattersonline, Wheelie bikes as a trend, lack of flatland frames currently available, the latest video parts, reemergence of flatland only brands, back injuries and much much more. It was a great conversation, check the timestamps below for a quick reference of what is discussed when.

Digging into the archives today, back to Props Video Magazine issue 56. And a full section with Athens, Georgia flatland family featuring Kent Pearson, Jody Temple, Jeff Foster, Roman Wilson, Darin Wright, Lil Kris, and Rodney Dye.
Like I said in my review of Landscapes 1 last year, DVD’s in the modern era are a sad rarity in our scene from my perspective, during the last two years you can count those on less than one hand. Dane Beardsley’s Same thing daily project and IGI’s travel video are all we have had. Stewart Munro from Australia stepped up to the plate with an ambitious project to collect and edit together rider sections from all the planet, when you think about that in the modern internet culture and free edits available everyday it almost seems like a thankless task.
Thankfully Stewart stuck to the task which being so far away from all the other riders is I can imagine a tough task to collate together. The downloadable video straight to your laptop is catching on in other sports such as Skateboarding, more recently massive companies such as Adidas are releasing their projects for a small fee online. Will it catch on to what is essentially a small flatland audience? Only time will tell…
Landscapes 2 starts with a nice intro describing verbally the feeling of flatland and what it’s all about “it is a mirror that shows each of us who we are”. There’s always a unwritten formula to making a DVD, banger section to start, middle and the all important who got the last section. Would this follow suit, 52 minutes long let’s get into this!
On the last day of january with winter locked in and throwing the worst at most of us, if you need a pick me up for the springtime, summertime to come here it is. Great soundtrack, filming and cut is all point here from Darin Wright over at One Love. Featuring Danny Gomes, Andrew Wickham, Ryan Russell, Lindsey La’akea Bode, Shayne Khajehnoori, Ron Monis, Matthias Dandois, Jody Temple, Bobby Carter, Pat Fisher, and Claude Hickman. Good vibes from Newport Beach, California. Come on springtime!
Springtime is here, and as we all look forward to the summertime. The contests are more frequent, everyone is getting more riding time, and the content on FM grows.
It’s not often we kick off month with a Must Watch edit, but we did that in May of this year, and boy was it a treat!
Japanese flatland legend, Hiroya Morizaki teamed up with Taichi Kunieda to drop these two brand new amazing back wheel lines. So great to see Hiroya is still pushing hard, hitting the rewind again!
Jffe just sent in an awesome Athens/Atlanta Scene Report throwback edit that I couldn’t wait till Thursday on, that featured on Flatland Manifesto Video Magazine in 2002. Great riding from the likes of Jody Temple, Jon Dowker, Jeff Foster, Matt Hulgan, Mitch Hall, Shayne Khajehnoori, Jeff Foster, Kent Pearson, good scene vibes in this throwback.
July was yet another amazing month for flatland in 2015, as is the nature of the beast with so many videos daily. You can forget what happened and when pretty quickly, lets go back through what went down in July!
GG.M.image Riders, Viki Gomez, Alberto Moya and Varo Hernandez in BCN, for Barcelona Extreme, grabbing a session at the waterfront spot right by the legendary Sea Walls. Viki ends this one as we all thought about doing, but he did it! Good times! Proper summer time vibes to begin July with!
If you missed this one on instagram, it is definitely worth checking this piece of creativity out! Hell yes Fork one!
To celebrate Jody’s 27th anniversary riding bikes, Jody just dropped this short but sweet “Summer Short edit”. After battling a severe back injury for the last year or so, it is great to see some fresh Jody Temple footage. Stoked on the half hiker pivot karl bar flip line at 00:49, and the hang nothing bar flips at 1:17 is so good! Much more than that Jody’s and I guess the Athens crew as well, always look like they are having a blast on their bikes! That’s ultimately what it is all about!
