Must Watch: Brandon Fenton/ Lashed Out

The whiplash road of progression in flatland, not many walk the walk.. Brandon Fenton is one of those guys, that’s taken the time to master the skill, commitment and balance point. Offloading a few years worth of variations, there’s numerous examples to highlight.

2:10: Just off a foot jam, how many backwards whiplashes Brandon can do, not to mention spot envy. 10 backwards whiplashes is so hard, backwards bar variation at 3:09 too!
2:44: Opposite side downside whiplashes might be one of the best looking flatland tricks ever, here Brandon makes it look easy…
4:36: Regular backwards whiplashes rebate to opposite backwards whiplashes.
5:30: Opposite whiplashes turbine no scuff to backwards whiplashes.

And many more like I said, the lonely road of whiplash progression seems few and far between in modern day flatland world. Loved this edit Brandon put together, a pure artist unlocking the codes and his technique is on point. Respect!

  1. I remember how hard and long it took me to finally nail a regular double whiplash WITH a brake ….I was ” barking ” that Dia Compe Nippon , haha. I can only muster a regular , single ankle death whiplash these day like Larry Manayan used to do in early 1988 , haha…..muliple AND switch whiplashes FOREVER at will . G-string whiplashes , even from foot jam stops ,ALREADY coming from forward multiples . BACKWARD turbine , Macintosh and MULTIPLE forward and G-strings to MULTIPLE messiahs , etc ,etc…..THIS is SLLLLLAAAAMMMED . Effraim , please sticky this to the TOP of the site for a while ! MUST WATCH , indeed. I had a strong feeling that Fenton was ” E-Clipe-ing ” something special and bruuuuuuuva was I correct ! Stoked on this . Thank you , Fenton . I love that fact that you honed in on a specific , extremely difficult , and harcore Flatland technique and went above and beyond to dial it , explore it , and damn well make it look so flawless . This song you chose morphed so well with it as well . You just made me like Zepplin alot more now ,haha..Brandon you’re doing to whiplashes what Trey Azagthoth ( Death Metal guitarist -icon ! ) is doing to and is STILL doing with pinch harmonics . Salud and amazing progression , Mr. E-Clipse ! Thanks ,E for peep gaming this !

  2. Thank you all for the kind words friends! I’ve definitely been focused primarily on the whiplash mission for the past few years. Whiplashes are the gift that keeps on giving! No matter what sort of whiplashes you learn, there is always some way to increase the challenge and to push yourself in many directions. Thanks to all my friends and the ATF crew (Bert, Paul, Ro, Colin, Juan, Khalid, Chuck, Max) at one of the worlds best riding surfaces IMO (Dunbat) for letting me encroach into their space with my obsessive whiplash man-spreading haha. And giant thank you to Effraim! I honestly only ever dreamt of getting a must watch on flatmatters, that and your words will keep me stoked for some time no doubt! I hope anyone who watches this can one day come and ride with us at that amazing spot!

  3. I could not agree more with all the comments here! Backwards brake-less whiplashes are super hard to nail. I know first hand as I started doing them back in ’87/’88 as one of the first if not the first to do them. The concentration and control has to be spot on and Branden, you clearly have them so dialed in…incredible!

  4. Brandon is never satisfied with one variation… case in point with this whiplash edit! It took 10 years for me to pull 2 whip lashes ;)) this is 20 years of dedication! Legend !
