One Love BMX Jam this weekend!
Darin Wright just sent through the final flyer for the annual One Love BMX jam this weekend in Newport Beach, California. Over 75 riders attending the event in Sunny Southern California, including Kevin Nikulski and Adam Kun making the trip from over here in Europe. Looking forward to the coverage from this event!

Let’s get back to normal daily posts after the 2015 Flatmattersonline awards, it seems I have missed a bit of contest news out. Alejandro Marques is organising his own online contest, and here is the first entry I have come across from Hevert Rivero.
John Yull – 2015 Flatmatters Year end awards / Lifetime achievement award
As I was going through the lookback feature on the site to help you the viewer at home vote for the 2015 Flatmattersonline year end awards, one name kept coming up and it wasn’t like they were half assed appearances either. Search John’s name on the sidebar and you will see what I mean.
This award is the surprise award I mentioned a few weeks ago, and a few of you have been trying to guess. This lifetime achievement award goes to John Yull, a man who dug deep this year dropping a beautiful tribute (somethingdaily3) to his mum who sadly passed away at the start of the year, nailing the triple brakeless decade, he teamed up with Jim McKay to bring us a lovely Decades edit, dropping the brakeless backwards decade, and topping it off with an amazing Finale part. I could go on and on, but I’ll leave you with some of my favourite moments from John’s year.
Well deserved John, your mum is looking down proud of you!
Martti Kuoppa – 2015 Flatmattersonline Year end awards / Editorial Rider of the Year
2015 was an amazing year for flatland. Looking back at the year, Viki Gomez started the year strongly with back to back wins at Bike Days and Barcelona Extreme, and later sealing the World Circuit crown with a win at Real City Spin.
But from September 4th, it was all about one man. Martti Kuoppa broke the internet with his ten stemlashes clip, then came over to the UK Champs and performed one of the best runs I have ever seen to take home the win as well as at Level Vibes.
In my opinion, much of 2015 hung on one thing, Flatark. Almost every one was there (which is rare these days), 40K on the line, but what surprised me is that not a lot of riders brought that lil’ extra to take the win at the biggest contest of the year! We all know one man did that, Martti Kuoppa!
My vote for Editorial Rider of the Year goes to Martti Kuoppa, with team mate Viki Gomez the runner up.
Congratulations to Martti Kuoppa dominating the 2015 Flatmattersonline Year end awards this year, this year you will see the contest level go up and you have one man to thank for that!

The Reader Choice for the 2015 Flatmattersonline Rider of The Year is Martti Kuoppa, who has already won awards for Most Progressive Rider and Contest Run of the Year this year! Congratulations once again Martti!
Viki Gomez took the runners up with a great year, winning the world circuit and his amazing “Something in the way” edit! Not a bad year for KGB!

James White – 2015 Flatmattersonline Year end awards / Editorial Edit of the Year
After much gnashing of teeth, my editorial vote for the 2015 Flatmattersonline edit of the year goes to James White for his epic “James White and the adventures on the wheel of steel’ edit that in my opinion ticked every box I look for in an edit and smashed one out of the box too, no music, this was purely about the content.
Flatland in 2015/16 for me is all about details, and the godfather of UK flat gets it better than anyone. The revisited bike flip bunnyhop around the 00:23 mark nailed cleaner blew my mind, it’s not too often we see a totally brand new trick anymore. Not to mention the stationary body varial, that probably had us all wondering. Why has no one see done that? The best ideas are like that! Congratulations James, you definitely blew the Must watch firewall off!
S&M team mate, Pete Olsen is my runner up for edit of the year, who like James ticked all the boxes I look for and admire in the modern era of flatland.

Pete Olsen – Flatmattersonline 2015 Year End Awards / Readers Choice Edit of the Year!
December 17th was one of the best days of 2015. Pete Olsen broke the internet that day and helped take our sport up a few levels.
Congratulations to Pete Olsen, the 2015 Flatmattersonline Year end winner for Readers Choice edit of the year. This category is one of the most contested categories, and now with the “Must Watch” category being harder to obtain it seems like it’s added more weight to the award.
Runners up this year, were Brand of the Year HeresyBMX for their light edit featuring Alexis Desolneux, George Manos, Sebastian Grubinger and Breakthrough Rider of the Year, Matthieu Bonnecuelle. What a year for them!
