Jeff Scheer – Last Thirty – Of Thirties

Last Thirty – Of Thirties from Jeff Scheer on Vimeo.

This is awesome! Jeff breaks it down for you…

“With my 40th B-day a week away, I wanted to make a last edit for my thirties. I created a thirty clip edit without any video effects or extra non riding scenes. Just a fast paced, clip after clip style, of some of my tricks of 2012. Heavy on brakeless decades, since one of the decades in my life is coming to an end. In order to fit the 30 clips into a reasonable length, I used many shorter tricks, and didn’t use really long combos.
This year I rode brakeless quite a bit, although some clips I do have a front brake only. All the decade / Smith decade stuff, boomerangs, and pinkie squeaks are brakeless. Some of the tricks I came up with myself and have never seen anyone do. The no kick double turbined one handed steam at 4:50 is my invention, along with the original combo at 2:45 and a few other things I’ve never seen done before…”

  1. I dig the swivel jump to forwards half-lash. It’s one of my favorite of what I call “turtle tricks” (i.e. tricks with both wheels on the ground)–which is not to take away from the difficulty of some such tricks. That one in particular I found very difficult to get consistent and haven’t seen many people do. Good stuff man!

  2. The combo at 4:27 was pure bad ass! Love the linking of different styles and uncommon tricks. This is going to make me blow off my responsibilities today and go ride!!

  3. Thanks all for the nice comments, It really motivates me!

@srj and Effraim. Thanks for noticing the skills and potential for next level stuff! I have a bunch of things that would really step up the difficulty majorly and be next level type of stuff. The probelm is, the tricks are so difficult, ha!

@Brandon F. I’ve been wondering if anyone has ever done that swivel to halflash jump, I couldn’t imagine that wasn’t done in the past, but I’ve never seen it. My original goal was to not land it in a halflash, but to hold it up into that reverse boom thing directly to the footjam decade, but that was really hard so I thought of dropping it to the halflash first and then the boom thing..

@Kenny L. Glad you like that one, that is sort of a different one!

  4. @Steve Laps. Hell yeah, Western NY represent! I agree we need to get together sometime, maybe a jam. Although I have never been to into riding contests, I like the idea of the AMFLT circuit, and this year it was in the back of my head a lot that I really should be hitting some contests. Maybe next year, I guess I’ll see…

@Dax. Yeah, I always considered myself a well rounded rider, but it does make it difficult to push certain areas of your riding really hard when I’m jumping from trick to trick. Not as much focus on certain things. I’m not very surprised you have never heard my name, ha!

@denny. That’s another thing I was trying to do with this vid. Mix it up with an old and new school flavor, and increasing the difficulty of the older stuff by doing it brakeless.

  5. As said before, I nice mix of old and new styles, but taking it to the next level. This is pure flatland genius if you ask me. Spinning, turbining, fast links…with Boomerankles thrown in for good measure. I’m in! LOVE IT Jeff!

I’ve seen a few riders bringing back two wheeled style lately…and doing things that I thought I would never see. Freestyle at it’s best.

  6. Yeah Tod, I was going for an “All School” freestyle approach to this video, with a contrast in styles.

Thanks Paul, I really want to step that trick up to be even more difficult!
