The Yuki Itoh Flatmattersonline Interview!

Intro/Interview: Effraim.

When I started thinking about a direction change for Flatmattersonline and producing more exclusive content. Yuki Itoh was the first name on my list of people to interview, here is a rider that I look at like the “next one” this guy is blessed with amazing riding skills and style, and I feel like he can be “that” rider if he believes and really elevate our sport/artform to the next level. But at the same time, I quite like that there is a mysterious nature to him, not everything is out on the washing line for all to see. Refer back to his “Welcome to Far East” edit that I still watch to this day for inspiration, but Yuki offers much more than that.
His alias, Yukipkoproject is producing some of the best quality edits flatland has ever seen, that rival Tom at Sevisual in terms of feel, and quality. Here is a rider I really look up to, and I had to know more. I have gone back and fourth with Yuki over the past few months to put this together. Welcome to the Yuki Itoh Flatmattersonline Interview….

Matthias Dandois in Lisbon, Portugal

Matthias Dandois hit me up with some edit news, he just teamed up with Red Bull to film in Lisbon, and uses the city as his canvas. Head over to Red Bull site for a quick interview with the man himself.

Throwback Thursdays with Yuki Itoh

Yuki Itoh – Welcome to the Team – FEC from IGI BMX on Vimeo.

On the 18th September 2016, Yuki Itoh made a big statement to the flatland world. Tomorrow I am really psyched to drop an exclusive interview with one of my favourite riders and learn more about this rider that offers so much more than just “tricks”. It seems like as good a time as any to re-up his amazing “Welcome to Far East” edit!

Everything about this Yuki Itoh – Welcome to the Far east Cycles team edit is on point. Yuki is one of the most underrated riders on the japanese scene in my opinion so it’s great to see FEC showed him some love.

Riding wise, the riding and the intricate switches are pretty much all groundbreaking. Here are some of my personal highlights:

– The opposite turbine steam boat ride in flip flip to yammer style backwards spinning xft steam step on fork back to steam turbine to xft fork spinning steam to opposite xft steam flip steam opposite side step into spinning cliff at 1:06! Are you following all that? Yuki’s style is so nimble around the bike, amazing!

– At 2:11 the turbine teakettle to spinning xft crack pivot spinning hang ten pivot opposite one footed spinning crack step over backwards facing one footed spinning ck jump to halfpacker pivot xft backwards spinning xft stream pivot steam to x handed spinning half hiker! Mind blown!

– The last line at 3:03! I will leave that one to you!

Props to Takuya Higa also for the camerawork. Job done! Respect Yuki, liquid flatland at it’s finest. Stay tuned for the interview tomorrow.

Dustyn Alt & Kevin Nikulski – Double Trouble

Dustyn Alt & Kevin Nikulski are two of the raddest riders to hang out with in the game, stoked to wake up to this “Double Trouble” edit today. Both Dustyn and Kevin throw down with good vibes between the two throughout. Dustyn’s signature backwards time machine line is the highlight for me at the 1:29 mark and it’s looking dialled for the 2018 contest season, go watch this one now!
