Episode 7: Flatmattersonline exclusives with Sebastian Grubinger

The Flatmattersonline exclusives are becoming a thing, and Heresy rider Sebastian Grubinger just came through with a belter!

Sebastian’s riding always commands my attention, whether it is a must watch video part or a too good for Instagram clip. His riding is always fresh, and I love that he put in some work into getting this clip done for episode 7, (watch the failed attempts, the fact he shows the falls is awesome!)…
We went back and forth discussing the bar flip ride-out, as I was trying the bar backwards hang 5 to bar flip out. I got injured whilst Sebastian was trying to get this clip done, and as you can see he makes it look easy and not only that adds in an awesome ride-in that flows so well with rideout, and middle part of the line before getting to the rideout is so technical. The whole line together like that is ridiculous, and something we have come to expect from one of the best video riders in the game!

Thanks Sebastian for contributing towards the series, episode 7 is in the bag.

The response since I announced the Flatmattersonline exclusive clip will be a year award has been amazing, and already a few heads are working heavy clips for future episodes.
Who’s got next weeks clip? Episode 8 is on the horizon, same time next week….

Episode 6: Flatmattersonline Exclusives with Varo Hernandez

Welcome back, it’s that time of the week!

Episode 6 of the Flatmattersonline exclusive clips features one of the smoothest young flatlanders on the contest circuit… Varo Hernandez from Madrid, Spain. I feel Varo is on the verge of breaking into that elite top 8 in the contests, and I am stoked he got involved in contributing towards this progression series of clips I have been posting every Wednesday. That last switch brakeless, is amazing!

Today, I also have a BIG announcement! (and I feel a little stupid for not thinking of this earlier…)

The line of the year award will now become the Flatmattersonline exclusive clip of the year award! It’s time to get filming, and send in your best clip.

Throwback Thursdays with Yu Katagiri

With so many edits dropping each year, it is so easy to overlook edits in the flatland scene and just in general actually. My following post is about a photoshoot with Yu and Ryo Katagiri, Naoto Tamaru at the Flatpark, and that reminded me with the exception of the Sensual video there really has been much of Yu Katagiri on the site.

Episode 5: Flatmattersonline Exclusives with Chris Vasileiou

Welcome back!

As I said last week, the Flatmattersonline exclusive clips are building really well. When I started these clips back up in January whilst I was out in SF with Pete Brandt, I was honestly thinking I would get a couple of clips in, and there would be a dry patch with some weeks without content. So far, touch wood, I am five weeks into doing these exclusives again with no missed weeks at all!

These clips are for you, to document share and progress is all about motivating not only yourself, but those around you. Chris Vasileiou, like fellow Greek shredder, George Manos came through with a clip without being asked. These clips are really motivating me, and I hope you at home are getting something out of them. Chris looks like he’s riding at home, such a crazy looking spot to have, and the line he does looks like it’s over when he gets the the front scuff vadar move and then it switches back to frame stand tomahawk, via a move that was called a Scarlo Squeak back in the day.

It’s that time of the week, every Wednesday! A fresh Flatmattersonline exclusive clip, how long can we keep this going?

I reached out to Sampa BMX rider, Bobby Carter a few weeks back to invite him too film for a FM exclusive. And the move he had in mind, he didn’t have in the bag yet. I love how we went back and forth for a couple of weeks, and out the blue Bobby hit me up with the clip.
This is what these clips are all about, pushing your own level!

The Flatmattersonline exclusive clips are building nicely, George Manos hit me up this week without even being asked. Super hyped on seeing the clips build, just three weeks in. And already three great clips from Pete Brandt, Sietse van Berkel and now Heresy rider, George Manos.
Its pegruary, and George doesn’t even care, he’s out there doing his thing.

Episode 2: Flatmattersonline exclusives with Sietse van Berkel

Two weeks ago we dropped the return of the Flatmattersonline exclusive clips, Pete Brandt was kind enough to step up, and push his level to get the series going again. If you watched the first episode you will have taken note that I invited anyone to join this.

The format is simple, film a progressive clip for you, holler flatmattersonline! Send it in via the Flatmattersonline email.

I put out a few invitations to help get the ball rolling, and Deco, Four Pegs rider Sietse van Berkel was the first to get back, and he just sent in this amazing clip. These clips are all about inspiring all of us in the flatland community to push things one step further than you normally would, and get it the clip on film.

We are back doing the Flatmattersonline exclusive clips, and who better to start out with than San Francisco Flatland legend, Pete Brandt.
The whole idea, behind the FM exclusive clips is to push your own level. I have been out in SF for two weeks and watched Pete do Hitchiker dark side to halfpacker almost every go. So I said “Hey Pete, why didn’t you throw some hitchhiker turbines in there and make this line a little bit more tough for you?” Around 15 tries later, here we have Episode 1.

Pete is a savage!!
