Throwback Thursdays: Matsudo Year End Jam 2018

I am a big fan of the Jimalog edits, and this 2018 Matsudo Year End Jam edit filmed on 29th December at Matsudo, Hall 21 of Forest in Chiba,Japan hits the spot, and is so worth a repost!

With an amazing list of riders, Akihiko Takahashi, Masashi Itani, Yu Shoji,Takuji Kasahara, Takumi Matsumoto, Moto Sasaki, Takahiro Ikeda,Yasunari Ishijima, Takahiro Enoki, Kazuma Nakajima, and Kenji Mori.

This was a Must Watch edit when it dropped, here’s what I liked about it…

2:18: Takahiro Enoki, Xft carved hitch crazy pivot to backwards backpacker backwards whiplash out, I still rewind this one after three rewinds already. Timeless move!

2:37: Takahiro Ikeda, been waiting to see Takahiro do the pedal time machine walkover decade to one kick greater into a line without laying bike down and he gets it done here and finishes the line with a time machine variation I have never seen before. Unreal technique!

6:42: Takahiro Enoki, 6:42 and Takahiro hits a dream line of mine, opposite dump ride in, pivot xft upside down ice cream pivot backwards two footed dump pivot opposite xft cream! Just beautiful!

7:30: Moto Sasaki, what a mad line to finish a wonderful edit from Jimalog. Hang ten pivot to xft crackpacker turbines (hard enough) out to xft steam pivot jump to right side pumping halfpacker carved in circles into backwards pumping halfpacker in circles into backwards one footed spinning halfpacker step through to spinning hang ten out! Ridiculous!

As well as the amazing lines from everyone, this edit has a feel good factor about it. Friends together, riding, sharing, supporting.

Must Watch: Dominik Nekolny / The 1st UCI Professional Flatland World Champion

The road to the top can be a rocky one, and Dominik Nekolny has probably gone through everything to get to the top. As flatlanders, we don’t often see the behind the scenes of what goes on in people’s lives, whether it’s the practise time, the injuries, travelling and the issues that can raise, how much they get to ride, bike problems, the list goes on.

Dominik documented his journey to becoming the first UCI Professional World Champion in Chengdu, China last October/November. Dominik had to overcome the airline losing his bike, borrowing a brakeless bike from Irina Sadovnik and being able to challenge for the Fise year end title with Matthias Dandois, cracking his ankle bone in between Fise Chengdu, and the UCI World Championships in Chengdu.
This documentary captures the doubt, the measures that he took to make it happen, and the way the story unfolded with the bike loss, getting through his cracked injury with the help of car accident lawyers and saving the best run for last. You couldn’t really script this! People can also get help here if they want injury attorneys specifically to solve accident and injury cases!

When you have the time, sit down and watch this one on the big screen, the subtitles are pretty funny.

Episode 39: Flatmattersonline Exclusive with Robert Victoria

YO!!!

It is time for episode 39 of the Flatmattersonline exclusives, this episode features Robert Victoria from the Bronx, New York.
During the 90’s I used to watch the 20 inch video magazines that heavily documented the New York contests, and I was stoked to see Robert contribute towards the exclusives.
I have been following his instagram over the past 6 months, regularly posting rolling clips in a tight looking skatepark spot in the Bronx.
This clip made me laugh, scooter riders being totally oblivious to anyone else is an international problem, and Robert powers through this steam whip to halfpacker line juggling to halfpacker after and maintaining focus. Joe Cicman will enjoy this one!
Stoked to see Robert step up for the episode that he filmed on his 47th birthday a few weeks back.
We will be closing in on the big 5 0 soon…

Who’s got episode 40? Dropping Wednesday..
