During this pandemic, it has definitely been a good time to watch older edits and get ideas/motivation for the riding sessions. Here is something a little different from flatland god, Chase Gouin performing a flatland show at Phog Lounge circa 2006/2007. Such a tight space, but with Chase’s tricktionary it’s not a problem.

Jean-Francois Boulianne: The Southern Escape / The story behind a Must Watch!
Intro/Interview: Effraim.
Photography: Matthieu Metivet, Simon Warsan, Jean-Francois Boulianne.
This past winter, Jean-Francois Boulianne made his travels south to Peru and Colombia to avoid the harsh cold Canadian winter.
No one could have anticipated the Covid 19 pandemic that was to follow, and JFB has held onto this edit for a couple of months.
When Jean first hit me up with the edit, I asked what he had been up to during the winter, as I had seen a few posts on social media and was curious what his story was, and he seemed to be away from home for a long time.
After a few conversations back and forth, it became apparent to me that I should showcase this amazing edit a little differently than your normal Must Watch video breakdown.
Without further ado, it’s time to learn a little more about Jean’s travels and enjoy this edit, as the story goes deeper than just tricks, and captures for me what BMX is all about….

Nick Watts: June 19th
Total freestyle as always from the man, Nick Watts to start our Friday posts! Even using. one of his garden trees to keep the line going at 00:52… Nick rules!!
Joe Cicman: Reflections: TD3 Redux
Here’s an interesting one, I like the concept behind this. Joe Cicman was unhappy with his 2017 year end edit, and decided much like you can with tricks, is go back over it and re-edit it, different music and feel.
The steam jump to two footed backyard at 1:11 is still as crazy, as it was three years ago when Joe first dropped it.
George Kikos: BMX Flatland Part 3
George Kikos’ nose manual game is on point in Part 3 of his BMX Flatland series, especially liked the switch foot pedal 5 line at the 1:05 mark. Well worth a watch!
Khaled Huerta: Ninja Kick
After a few days off updating the site, back to it with a bang! Khaled Huerta is a savage rider, and comes through with this awesome Ninja Kick line. Keep on shredding Khaled!
Terry Adams & Toon Pakphum Whatsapp Battle
Unintentional Martti Kuoppa theme running on the site today, and this one is a real treat and makes the best of the Covid 19 pandemic situation. Martti is training his riders hard and utilising technology as best he can to keep the riders motivated and in contest shape. This Terry Adams and Toon Pakphum battle goes hard and might well be the future, such a rad idea!
George Manos: EKATOGXEIRES EXP
EKATOGXEIRES EXP from George Manos on Vimeo.
Running little bit late today, and George Manos just got in contact with some unreleased footage he shot stylin’ it out before quarantine.
Oleg Efimov & Masato Ito WhatsApp Battle
Martti Kuoppa is pushing his riders hard, whilst the contest season is on hold. This is such a dope idea, Oleg Efimov & Masato Ito what’s app style. MK explains more below….
“After the full run can be done 100% on your own the next level is to do it while I watch via live video call. After that part is going good it is time to add up even more pressure and do a battle with a live video calls with another rider and coach watching. Here you can take a look on the WhatsApp battle between Oleg Efimov and Masato Ito.
My apologies for the picture quality and the original sound missing. This is the best documentation we can get out of this style of practice.”
Distancing 2
Last week, Jason Forde invited me along with Keelan Philips, Mizo, Thomas Loison, Yinka Thomas, Amos Burke, and a few others to film two clips in a week. This was a good chance for me to try and push myself a little bit further as I return from an injury that was caused due to mechanical errors caused a crash.Stoked to be involved involved in this project, heres what Jason Forde the man behind the project had to say:
“A series of flatland BMX edits created during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Social distancing meant that we were not able to ride together as much as we would like too. These videos are made to bring us together, to share our riding clips and to motivate each other.
Riders were selected at random and given a time limit to record a fresh/new riding clip that has never used on social media.
We all had different issues to deal with while trying to get the selected clips.
I myself had to deal with my riding areas being closed off / locked or to small, dusty or trying to find the time to (while I was still working as an essential) record, early morning and late evenings for days on end.
I actually landed my clip (a link that I have never been able to complete before and always failing at the last hurdle) an hour before the deadline and struggled to walk afterwards due to injuries and exhaustion, then I would need to get home and edit.
Clips have been edited by myself, and even the music tracks have been created by a rider.
I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I enjoyed making them and appreciate the effort that has gone into them.
I want to give a big thank you to all the riders that have taken part
More to come….
