Must Watch: Bruno Zebu / What 2019 brought to me

Bruno Zebu just put together this amazing highlights edit of his progression during 2019, and the technicality of what he’s doing is absolutely off the chart. Bruno is without a doubt one of my favourite riders currently, he deliberately cut this edit short so it’s easier on the eye and not as long. This edit took me a few watches to understand what was going on, so I will keep the description fairly short.

Highlights:

00:18: Spinning Switch Foot Hang Ten pivot to crackpacker pivot and jump to spinning circle k!

00:41: Bruno takes a trick that you normally see using the hand on bar whilst pivot and ups the difficulty and originality by choosing to take it off. Halfpacker pivot to opposite side two footed xft steam to xft hitch juggler. Mind blown!

1:28: Xft halfhiker pivot to halfpacker turbine pivot inside xft steam pivot steam, done at the blink of an eye.

The lines just keep coming, my mind is still a little blown watching this. Hopefully this year, we see a lot more of Bruno, one of the best flatlanders on the planet. Keep doing your thing Bruno!

Must Watch: Matsudo Year End Edit 2019

Three days into 2020 and already a Must Watch! Jimalog’s Matsudo Year end jam edits are almost reserved for the Must watch tag, don’t miss this. Jimalog’s edit never disappoint, theres a couple of moments are literally screamed WTF this morning on my first watch and want to highlight these moments.

1:01: Shigary Salary. One handed Seat grab hang ten body varial/jump to one kick elephant glide to right sided halfpacker whip to left side halfpacker pivot out.

1:25: Akihiko Takahashi. Everything Akihiko does is beast, but loved the backwards xft hitch jump regular backwards hitch bar flip out.

3:05: Hidenori Ishizaki. On the front wheel, and slaying a exit move Cory Fester is infamous for. Hidenori mixes it up slightly, starting with xft hitch pivot to backwards backpacker to right sided backwards hafpoacker and bar scoots to backwards Karl (opposite side from Cory).

3:26: Yu Shoji. One of the moves of the edit without a doubt, the first switch I haven’t seen before. Opposite switch foot hang 5 dumped into right side xft halfpacker!

3:59: Takahiro Enoki. Saving the hottest moves till last, Jimalog know how to build an edit. Takahiro drops a bomb right here, inside switch b pivot two footed one handed cream regular stance body varial/jump to backwards two footed dump! pivot switch foot ice cream, the scream at the end is so good! This is flatland!

What a great end to an amazing edit, many of us dream of going to ride at that Matsdo spot one day. Seems magical, always great vibes and banging tricks coming out of the locals there. What a start to 2020!

Must Watch – Lee Musselwhite / BMF

New Years eve 2019 has been a good day for edits. And this new one from Lee Musselwhites strikes the same kind of chord I felt with Matthias Dandois’ “Instagram side of things”. Yes, I have seen some of the footage before via Instagram and Master of Creativity, its however way more impressive when you see the footage altogether as a total package.

Highlights for me from this BMF edit:

00:16: Backwards boomerang to half turbine crackpacker.

00:41: Bar grab one handed backwards no footed backyard pivot out!

00:48: Possibly my favourite of the edit, bar hop 360 body varial to halfpacker. Little dead time, short and sweet. Perfect!

There’s a lot packed into this 1:51 edit from Lee, can Lee now take his original difficult lines from Torquay to the contest floor and break into that elite top bubble of riders in 2020? If this is my last post of the decade, see you on the other side everybody!

Must Watch – Regenerations / BMX Flatland Short Film

“A new generation of young riders inspired by older generations are regenerating BMX Flatland.
Their riding regenerates our riding. This video is dedicated to them!”.

Yu Katagiri (14 years old),Ryo Katagiri (19 years old), Yohei Uchino (37 years old), Viki Gomez (38 years old) collaborate on this Christmas Day released Must Watch! Put together four of the best riders in the world with the best filmer in the game, Tom at Sevisual and you strike gold.

The concept for the video is a great one, and demonstrates how generations of riders can inspire each other back and forth via the Flatpark Flatland School that Yohei Uchino runs. As Jesse Puente would say “You push me, I push you back homie!”.

Rather than list trick for trick which I always do, i’m going to flip this one. Let’s talk about this one in the comments section. Time for a rewind, lot to take in this one…

Top marks Tom, Viki, Ucchie, Ryo and Yu!
