Back to it after a couple of days off, let’s get Sunday’s posts started with this rad edit from the underrated Joel Schallhorn! Here’s what Joel had to say about this “Hypnotic” edit:
“While I was home in Colorado I felt like I was lazy as a rider, rarely rode and filmed, but I focused on progressing myself in other ways which can be seen here. I felt lazy but when I was reviewing the footage I collected from January to March of 2018 I guess I did more than I thought and I’m happy with the result!”
Yuki Itoh just dropped some exciting product news, he just got a well deserved “N Code” signature bar with Far East Cycles. Nice to see something a little different than the usual 2 piece bar design. Specs can be seen below.
Johann Chan made the trip down to Hastings recently to grab a session with Amos Burke. Here’s what Johann had to say about this edit:
“Amos Burke manages to shred a mix of Flat, bowls, ledges and rails all on one bike.
A couple of weeks ago, we drove down to Hastings, with the plan of riding flat & the Source park.
After a quick ground session, we headed down to the Source. By the time we reached the sea front, I felt like I’d teleported straight into an old Backyard video.
The inner BMX nerd got the better of me, and before you know it, the phone was out, and a clip for Instagram ended up being two…”
Flat Rhythm is an invitational flatland event organised by Scott O’Brien sponsored by Red Bull that will merge with a Second Line Parade in New Orleans on May 19th. Six riders are invited, so far Terry Adams, Terry Adams, Matthias Dandois and Tyler Gilliard, each announcing a day at a time.
We live in an era where social media makes seeing daily BMX videos easy. So we set out to do something that wasn’t just a flash in the pan Instagram clip or quick YouTube video. Something that all the riders really took their time to film.
The goal was to present something that had a wide variety of styles and personalities from riders who don’t normally release full parts often, if at all. We attempted to create a certain vibe from start to finish. Something different than what you are used to seeing.
Forget what you heard…
A film by Steven Lapsley. Featuring full sections by Ahmed Johnson, Gurvan Le Bloc’h, Hirokazu Miura, Jérémy Brosset, Joris Bretagnolles, Mateus Beckmann, Naoto Tamaru, Rodolphe Clavelier and Yorihisa Shiota.
In this day an age it is really refreshing to be surprised with a brand new video with a heavy stack of riders to boot. This was the case when Steven Lapsley dropped the news “Forget What You heard” dropping tomorrow. Like whoa, where did that come from?? I wanted to catch up with Steven, who kindly sent me a pre release copy to talk about the project and get his thoughts on picking the riders, making the video, getting fresh Miura footage and much more. Without further a due, let’s get right into this!
Matthias Dandois has come out swinging in 2018 and just won his second Fise World contest in two weeks! Congratulations to Matthias who threw down another flawless run in Hiroshima, Japan. Omari Cato just hit me up on instagram with a new edit, it seems like Omari has really found his groove and is progressing a lot on the back wheel. Really enjoyed this edit, make sure you don’t sleep on this one! Standout for me is the line at 00:40!
I don’t know if it’s just me or has the level gone up a notch or ten this year. It’s not normal that I give a video part section a Must watch. But it’s Chad Johnston, and in my eyes we don’t see enough Chad. Not only one of the most inspirational riders, but look what he has done for riders such as Martti Kuoppa, Viki Gomez, and countless others.
Chad hits it hard in the Long Beach underground in this S&M “Hot Dogs” Section, from the opening backwards elbow glide on the forks at 00:16 to double footed karl BB bar flip out I’m literally having the feeling of watching one of his intrikat videos for the first time.
00:27: pegless undertaker with a wild wheel stand lawnmower type ride out! This might be one of the moves of the year already! It’s april!!!
00:33: Bars regular bar twist to bars backwards nose ET nose to set up Scarlo squeak whips to double karl bar flip out! WTF!!!
00:53: Scarlo squeak to chick whip double footed karl to 360 BB flip out!
1:17: Seat stand megaspin to xft pedal megaspin step over one foot pedal manual pedal death to blender, bare in mind no pegs! Absolutely insane, and like a fine wine Chad just keeps getting better and better. Beyond stoked, contender for edit of the year? Let’s discuss this one in the comments, pure flatland at it’s best! Look out for an interview soon right here on FM!
