When you look back at all Chad Johnston has done for flatland and the riders that featured and made their names on his videos, the man deserves some kind of award. This morning I started watching Intrikat Blend again for the first time in a while and it immediately took me back to that era of riding, with amazing riding from Martti Kuoppa, Ross Smith, Phil Dolan, Andrew Arroyo, Jesse Puente, Matt Ward, Ed Nussbaum, and Chad himself. The whole video flows like a mixtape, I would urge you to watch the whole thing, inspiration. Thank you Chad for everything you have done for the flatland culture if you are reading this.

Today I am stoked to publish this much deserved interview with the man behind Intrikat, Chad Johnston. Chad is a flatland lifer, and has contributed so much towards our artform over the years, he has helped many riders careers via video parts and getting their names out to us all, not to mention inventing and documenting so many tricks that have inspired us all across the globe. If that’s not enough, Chad also designed a signature line of products/frame with S&M. Despite all this, I feel the man is underrated, and I wanted to show the man some love and thank him for all he has done for me over the years. Grab a cuppa, this is a long interview that deserves your attention. Let’s get into this!
How long in the game Chad, how did you get into flatland? It’s crazy to me, I remember sending you money through the mail years ago for Reality Tv Part 1 and here we are 2018 doing this interview.
Haha! We’ve been in it a minute. I got my first BMX for my 10th birthday. Prior to that I was riding a hand-me-down stingray type of bike. I don’t remember how I got it, or when. I do remember my dad teaching me how to ride it without training wheels. As soon as I figured it out, it started raining, but I didn’t care, I kept on going.
Sean Fontenot – Snapshot Daily Riding Nose Manual Progress 4K
Sean Fontenot’s riding always has me on the edge of my seat, check this latest short edit where he states “I’ve always been good at G-turns, but bad with nose manuals. I’ve decided to correct that.” Shot with Konova K7 Slider (aside from last shot) Sean’s riding is so explosive, amazing stuff at the Globe spot in Long Beach, California!
Throwback Thursdays with Ed Nussbaum
For this weeks Throwback we go back to 2009, and one of my favourite brakeless riders, Ed Nussbaum shredding at the Long Beach Marina riding spot. The way Ed floats around the bike with such control is to this day is amazing and inspiring to watch!
Sean Fontenot – 3 days of progress
Sean is killing the globe spot in the LBC, some really nice back wheel manual g turns, and nose manuals combos/variations on board his new Odyssey Tango frame in this edit! Check it!
