Japan Trip 2019

Back in August of last year, Paulo Gepulango got the chance to go to Japan for his wife’s birthday! Paulo of course, managed to visit plenty of riders and experience some different scenes around Kobe, and Osaka. Featuring Keisuke Tanigawa, Shinichi Kiba, Tomokazu Morinaga, Fumiya Sasagawa, Fumiya Wakabayashi, Eri Funatsu, Jumpei Goto, Takumi Isogai,
Masato Ito, Takuzi Izumi, Satoshi Ojima, Jun Oni Katayama, Giichi ikeda, Kota Ikeda, Jigen Omotehara, Yoshio Makino and many more. Scene edits are awesome, good one to watch when you have the time….

Dom Nekolny: Winning the UCI World Championships

It’s a shame there isn’t a translation for what Dom Nekolny is saying in this edit, but judging this one by the clips and the fact Dom is rocking the UCI rainbow jersey i’m pretty sure Dom is discussing his UCI World Championship win last year. The riding clips keep this one flowing along regardless…

Yasuyuki Takeo: The Flatmattersonline Interview

Intro/Interview: Effraim.

It is hard to put into words the influence that the King of Ground contest has had on flatland since it’s inception, from all sides of flatland, the groundbreaking riding styles, the inside wooden contest floors, use of the battle format, waving of the flags for the judges result. I feel like no matter what I say, that would be only the tip of the iceberg.

I hit up Yasuyuki Takeo, one of the people behind the scenes that helped get the King of Ground up and running along with Takashi Ito, Kotato Tanaka, York Uno and a few others. I’ve lost track how many times I’ve posted a KOG video, and hit rewind numerous times just see what the hell happened. I wanted to know more about behind the scenes information of one of the most influential contest series to happen in flatland history.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Yasuyuki Takeo interview! In true Flatmattersonline style, it’s a long read, so grab a cuppa and get educated on all things KOG. So stoked how this came out, thank you Yasu for taking the time to do work on this interview.

Kevin Nikulski: Solid Ground

The Madnizz crew killed this edit with Kevin Nikulski, who of course if fresh off Autum. I have to be honest, I had no idea Kevin had so much skill on street, and his street nibble game is strong in this one, really liked the pegs nose at 2:37, and the tech front wheel at 1:51! As a whole, the edit and tune really fits Kevin’s personality and vibe, go watch this one if you haven’t already. Props to the Madnizz crew putting this edit together!

Throwback Thursdays: Proseed Issue One – Side A

Tomorrow I have an exclusive interview with one of original heads that helped create the King of Ground contest series in Japan, Yasuyuki Takeo. One of the most requested videos on the site, is anything KOG related, and in my mind one of the best contest videos ever done is by the Juicyvision crew “Proseed”, Issue one – side a right here. So much good riding from the King of Ground contests and local events too. You really do want to sit down and give this one your attention.

York Uno: How to Top Tube Elephant Glide

York Uno is killing the flatland how-to game, and is dropping how-to’s pretty much daily. It’s hard to keep up, I would call this move a top tube backwards squeaker… never mind tricks have different names across the globe…. Thank you York for contributing on the daily to the new generation of riders.
