Throwback Thursdays: Proseed Issue One – Side A

Tomorrow I have an exclusive interview with one of original heads that helped create the King of Ground contest series in Japan, Yasuyuki Takeo. One of the most requested videos on the site, is anything KOG related, and in my mind one of the best contest videos ever done is by the Juicyvision crew “Proseed”, Issue one – side a right here. So much good riding from the King of Ground contests and local events too. You really do want to sit down and give this one your attention.

Mat Hoffman`s CFB – Woodward, 2001

Here’s another good one from the archives, and if you love BMX in all forms you can just leave this one running. As I recall this was a TV show that aired in the states. The Mat Hoffman CFB at Woodward, PA 2001, the flatland contest starts at 14:50. Leigh Ramsdell on host duties, featuring the likes of Stephan Cerra, Nathan Penonzek, Viki Gomez, Matt Wilhelm, Scott Powell, Aaron Frost, Jeff Desroche, and Brian Tunney!

Throwback Thursdays with Albert Retey

My long standing memory from my first contest turning pro, was Albert Retey’s winning ride at the World Championships in Limoges, France 1993. If you were there you will know exactly what I’m talking about, if not one of the classic runs of all time. Certainly one of my favourites, the music and the vibe from the crowd still gives me goose bumps to this day! Albert Retey, what a rider!

Shintaro Misawa: King of Ground / Osaka 2004

Great footage from the archives, how many times have I said that?! Especially recently, it seems people are digging more than ever, and it makes sense with all their spare time to spend.
Shintaro Misawa footage is gold, here’s one of his runs from the King of Ground Osaka contest back in 2004, always easy on the eye!

King of Ground 2004: Nagoya Japan

Akihiko Takahashi just came through with 22 minutes of golden footage from the 1st Round of the King of Ground series in 2004. Round 1 went down in Nagoya, Japan, and 16 years later, most of this riding stands up today. Featuring the likes of Martti Kuoppa, Terry Adams, Yohei Uchino, Viki Gomez, Shinde, Kotaro Tanaka, and so many more. I just got through with my first viewing of this, and I’ll be going straight back to this. This is refreshing to watch, thanks Aki for the upload!

Old School Sundays with Jay Jones

The date is unknown on this event, AFA Tampa 1989/90 is what I’m working with. If you are reading this, let me know in the comments. Jay Jones, what a rider. This guy brought a lot of style to flatland, before I even knew style was a thing. Watch this amazing run, double backwards whiplash to forwards rope, switch handed hang nothings and more, Jay ruled!
