Lookback: May 2015 – The Flatmattersonline 2015 Year end awards

Looking back, May was a crazy month in the year, check through my highlights from the month….

Sean Fontenot’s riding always has me on the edge of my seat, check this latest short edit where he states “I’ve always been good at G-turns, but bad with nose manuals. I’ve decided to correct that.” Shot with Konova K7 Slider (aside from last shot) Sean’s riding is so explosive, amazing stuff at the Globe spot in Long Beach, California!

Flatland legend, Trevor Meyer kills this Chiacgo parking lot between shows on the front and back wheel. This is well worth a watch!

At the age of 43, Todd Carter has made the move up to the Pro ranks and is arguably riding better than ever. Check out this great edit he just put together to celebrate, it’s going down for real!

It has been a while since I gave a video the Must Watch tag, Brandon Derbowka just changed the game with this 00:37 clip! So much bike control to pull off seven no handed whiplashes, this truly is next level! If you watch one thing today on the internet, make it this!

Feel the Bike Days vibe as Jean Willam Prevost and Joris Bretagnolles pass the camera back and forth killing the back wheel with that “advanced pivotry”. Don’t miss this!

Viki Gomez took the win at Round 1 of the 2015 World Circuit at Bike Days in Switzerland, hit play for a reminder of what went down on May 10th.

On May 17th Alex Jumelin took the win at Fise in Montpelier, France, winning the final battle with good friend, Matthias Dandois, closely followed by Alberto Moya in third place!

Feel good vibes in this Super Flatground edit by Shinde Yoshihiro filmed in Okazaki, Japan featuring Kotaro Tanaka, Yasushi Tanabe, Shinde Yoshihiro, Kazuya Kuwahara, Hiroki Uchiyama, Minato Sato, Kira & Airu Komagata, Takarto Moriya, and Riku Shinde!

Omari Cato explains this one: “I have been really inspired by all of the young riders emerging and growing into their own worldwide especially after seeing many of the riders competing at FISE were of the newest emerging generation. So I set aside a couple of mornings to film myself as my riding has not been documented in some years it seems.”
Look out for the ender, real nice!

John Yull and Jim McKay teamed up to bring us all this absolute treat that blends narrative and amazing riding footage based around John developing the foot jam decade style. I’m on the second watch so far, but look out for the decade to vertical quick change at 00:38, the clean triple foot jam decade at 00:49. The bangers keep coming, foot jam decade peg wheelie double foot jam decade out at 1:04, my personal favourite at 1:17, the decade to power mower decade out, not to mention the ender at 2:17! Top marks to John and Jim, amazing to see riding of this calibre with filming and editing this good! Hard to believe John works full time, married, kids, and 44 years old and going this hard!
