Exciting news dropped the other day, Varo Hernandez has really stepped up his game in 2020. And got a well deserved spot on the We the People team. I got in contact with Varo (and WTP), and asked him for the official word before I published the news, here it is. Congratulations Varo!

Varo:
I am so stoked to join such a great company! I just came back from my second session with the prototype of the new Utopia Hybrid frame and it feels fantastic, super balanced and reactive.
Wethepeople is back to the flat game strong, they already have two super talented and young riders in the team, Keiryo and Julien, and soon they will release a whole new flatland line that I can’t wait to come out!

WTP:
Welcome to the Wethepeople familia Varo Hernandez 🥂
Hailing from Madrid, Spain, Varo is one of the most dialled and stylish Flatlanders emerging into the scene right now. We’re excited to add Varo to the Utopia squad with fellow new-school flatland rippers Julien and Keiryo.

Varo is riding a sample of our new #UtopiaHybrid frame which will be dropping with a full revamp to our Flatland aftermarket line in a few weeks time.

Whose got the next FM exclusive?

Varo Hernandez: eFise Flatland Final Run

No Flatmattersonline exclusive today, but we do have Varo Hernandez’s final eFise flatland run for you. Varo is one of those riders that really has stepped his game up during 2020 under the watchful eye of his coach, Martti Kuoppa, finishing 7th place in a stacked final is no joke at all. Thanks Varo for sharing this video.

Must Watch: Martti Kuoppa ? As It Is

I love surprises on Flatmattersonline, and this new edit from the Boss, Martti Kuoppa caught me by surprise. No hype, just a clean drop and boom! Dedicated to his daughter’s 2nd birthday yesterday.

From the opening steam kick flip crack line with bars regular and backwards you just know this is going to be a serious one.
Martti nowadays concerntrates most of his time coaching others (Terry Adams, Toon Pakphum, Irina Sadovnik) to name a few, but that does not mean he doesn’t devote any time to himself, and he demonstrates that point right here.

Incredible level of riding that few will ever reach, I did call him the Boss many years ago for a reason.

Other highlights for me:

Revisiting his classic xft half hiker pivot to halfpacker hang ten to kick flip to Halfpacker at the 1:14 mark.

2:37: Steam kick flip to hitch! Wow!!!!

And my favourite personally, inside opposite half hiker kick flip to crackpacker, abolsutely amazing! Kickflips are a route not many riders really followed for good reason, MK is one of those dudes that bought kick flips to the forefront in high pressure contests, and in the incredible video parts he has done over the years, including now this one.

Much respect Boss, this made my rainy day so much better!!!

Episode 58: Flatmattersonline Exclusive with Claude Hickman

YO!!

What’s up everyone? Claude Hickman surprised me today with a fresh clip for episode 58 of the Flatmattersonline exclusives. Keeping the momentum going as we approach 60 episodes!

This is Claude’s second FM exclusive, and this is episodes features another double darkside line, this time from hitch to rear wheel backpacker, I believe they call it a fudge packer in the states (correct me if I am wrong) to peg wheelie lard yard into ice cream darkside to halfpacker. Super smooth style from CH, this comes from years of riding, skills to pay the bills.
Claude on that note has just launched his own “Flatland” clothing brand, hit him up on instagram for the tees, sweatshirt, hoodies and all that good stuff.

Thanks Claude for contributing, whose got episode 59?
