Welcome back, it’s time for episode 42 of the Flatmattersonline exclusive. Ep. 42 features Brazilian flatland lifer, Lisias Tabarelli.
Love the ankle death tomahawk in this episode, this gave me a real 90’s throwback and reminded of some the moves Chase Gouin helped pioneer. Lisias contributes a lot to the flatland culture, especially in Brazil with his blogpsot site.
Thanks Lisias for contributing, who’s got episode 43?
Solid rolling styles in Part 4 of George Kikos BMX flatland series of videos, the switch foot pedal 5 line around the 00:47 mark stands out in my opinion. Rad looking spots to boot too…
Behind the scenes Martti Kuoppa continues to train and coach hard with this team, this particular video with Terry is really interesting. Martti explains all:
“It is a common problem among riders that the nervousness troubles so much that the run that had been practiced properly at home just does not work out during the moment when it counts, in the competition.
I have been working very hard with Terry (and many other riders too) to understand more on a deeper level how to ride well even in the middle of the worst nervousness hits.
During this video call Terry adapted a body scan meditation technique into the moment he felt most nervous, right before that long combo. And he landed that combo without any problems.
All these mind techniques work the similar way as practicing actual tricks on the bike: You exercise with your mind and you´ll learn. You exercise with your mind everyday,
you´ll learn more. And so on.”
One of the many things to love about the King of Grounds was without a doubt the fresh faces that consistently appear. I have watched a ton of KOG footage over the years, and never come across Nekano. Super nice switch foot steam styles in this contest run from Kobe 2005.
Many of you will have seen the entries from the Master of Creativity Pro qualification round unless you have been in a cave or something, however it is still awesome to see all the top ten entries back to back and some new faces rising to the top. Congratulations to all the finalists, finals is going to go off! Congratulations to Yu Shoji taking the top place spot. Good luck everyone for the final round…
It’s crazy to think we are fast coming towards 50 episodes of the Flatmattersonline exclusives, and today we have a feature with Jason Kale from the York, Pennsylvania area in the US.
Jason comes through with a different take on filming a line where he links between tricks in a snappy style, inside hang 5 to no handed 5, whiplash, manuals, hang 5, mega spin, and so on.. This was a fun episode, thanks Jason for contributing.
The footage just keeps on coming from the King of Ground contests, so much so I need to think of something new to say for these posts. For now, enjoy this footage of Yoshihiro “Taka” Nishikawa shredding in Nagoya 2004!
I posted part 1 of the “Break it down” series the other day on the site, today we have episode 2 with Jason Forde taking you through a back wheel line stage by stage. This is great. Anyone starting out in flatland wondering how to build a combination of tricks should watch this….
Many of you will know that RL Osborn is back on the flatland scene, and just started his own youtube channel where he is posting a bunch of cool stuff and answering fans questions. If you are an Old School fan, peep this live Q&A where RL talks about his Redline, Genereal, Bully days, why he quit riding (which is actually really straight up!), talk to of building his own signature frame again, and he shows love to the new school flatland. Good stuff right here!
