Episode 30: Flatmattersonline Exclusive with Bryan Huffman

YO!!! We made it!

30 episodes of the Flatmattersonline exclusives, I am pretty hyped to make it to thirty episodes without skipping a beat. Bryan Huffman from Winston Salem, North Carolina, USA stepped up for the honours, and dropped a really nice back wheel line with a sweet x-handed pumping junkyard to boot.
Bryan is a flatland lifer, I believe he has had 10 ACL knee surgeries and is still continuing to push his riding on the daily. Much respect to Bryan!

Who’s got episode 31?

Dropping on Sunday 5pm GMT…

Oleg Efimov & Masato Ito WhatsApp Battle

Martti Kuoppa is pushing his riders hard, whilst the contest season is on hold. This is such a dope idea, Oleg Efimov & Masato Ito what’s app style. MK explains more below….

“After the full run can be done 100% on your own the next level is to do it while I watch via live video call. After that part is going good it is time to add up even more pressure and do a battle with a live video calls with another rider and coach watching. Here you can take a look on the WhatsApp battle between Oleg Efimov and Masato Ito.

My apologies for the picture quality and the original sound missing. This is the best documentation we can get out of this style of practice.”

Distancing 2

Last week, Jason Forde invited me along with Keelan Philips, Mizo, Thomas Loison, Yinka Thomas, Amos Burke, and a few others to film two clips in a week. This was a good chance for me to try and push myself a little bit further as I return from an injury that was caused due to mechanical errors caused a crash.Stoked to be involved involved in this project, heres what Jason Forde the man behind the project had to say:

“A series of flatland BMX edits created during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Social distancing meant that we were not able to ride together as much as we would like too. These videos are made to bring us together, to share our riding clips and to motivate each other.

Riders were selected at random and given a time limit to record a fresh/new riding clip that has never used on social media.
We all had different issues to deal with while trying to get the selected clips.

I myself had to deal with my riding areas being closed off / locked or to small, dusty or trying to find the time to (while I was still working as an essential) record, early morning and late evenings for days on end.

I actually landed my clip (a link that I have never been able to complete before and always failing at the last hurdle) an hour before the deadline and struggled to walk afterwards due to injuries and exhaustion, then I would need to get home and edit.

Clips have been edited by myself, and even the music tracks have been created by a rider.

I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I enjoyed making them and appreciate the effort that has gone into them.
I want to give a big thank you to all the riders that have taken part
More to come….

Classic Mondays: Props Groundwork

Props Groundwork is 20 years old and a certified classic in any flatlanders collection. Claybom is on it with uploads this week, I was so stoked when this popped up the other day.

Sections from Brian Tunney, Leif Valin, Brian Rybak, Chase Gouin, Dylan Worsley, Nate Hansen, Akira Okamura, Chad Degroot, Aaron Behnke, Mike S, James White, and Dan Rigby.

Brandon Woldridge: FourPointNine

FourPointNine from brandon woldridge on Vimeo.

Brandon Woldridge just sent through his 49th birthday edit and a nice description to boot to kick start our Monday posts here on Flatmattersonline. Belated Happy birthday Brandon!

“This is FourPointNine, I turned 49 earlier this year. All of the indoor footage (at the Tiny Dome™, a/k/a my living room) was filmed recently during lockdown, with the final clip from last week at the tennis courts. Missed some time last year with back problems, but really glad to have sorted it out enough to be riding again…it’s still the best feeling.”

Episode 29: Flatmattersonline Exclusive with Amos Burke

YO!!

It’s time for episode 29 of the Flatmattersonline exclusives, and Amos Burke stepped up for the occasion. Dropping a nice bar flip fire hydrant line, filmed down in Hastings, here in the UK.

Amos just celebrated his 48th birthday last Thursday, happy birthday Amos!
Amos is infamous for his Backyard and S&M video sections back in the day, and Amos is still going strong.
Big respect to Amos for contributing, who’s got episode 30?

Dropping Wednesday 5pm, GMT….

Must Watch: Toon Pakphum goes Full Run Mode!

Many riders have toyed with the concept of a one combo contest routine, few can do it though. Toon Pakphum shows great calmness and consistency to get this done, the multiple stem-a-rangs body varial to halfpacker 2:15 into the line, is outrageous.

Under MK Format tuition, Toon shows no sign of slowing down even though the contest season is on hold. It’s definitely going to be interesting when the contest season restarts again, we will see a changing of the guard at the top of the sport? Toon is certainly knocking on the door, let’s discuss this one.
Great work Toon!
