Nice to see some underground contests going down across the globe. Such as this Morex Customs contest in Rennes, France, inside what looks like a clothing store. Congratulations to Matthias Dandois for the win followed by Anatole Rahain & Julien Baran on the podium.

The recent Chimera A-side contest in Osaka went odd, what a way to start the year. Do yourself a favour, and sit down wand watch this one if you missed it on Instagram the first time round.
It’s an annual tradition, right at the end of the year the Matsudo locals throw down a jam at their infamous riding spot. Infamous through the Moto Sasaki videos (who sadly isn’t on this one).
As always there is a great variety of riding styles on offer here, some of the highlights of the edit for me are: Takahiro Ikeda two footed spinning death truck body varial out at 1:12, Wild x-up spinning lawnmower body varial to two footed x-foot backyard line at 4:58 by Ren Oshima, Varo Hernandez front to back wheel line at 7:19, Yu Shoji’s Xft opposite hang 5 to xft halfpacker line is amazing around the 7:56 mark, and Ren gets the banger at 8:27.
The flatland community waits for this edit every year, and I guess we should include this in the year end awards talk as it falls in 2023.
Thank you Jimalog, and all the riders involved in this annual jam!
Don’t sleep on this one!
Today it’s the turn of Julien Baran on the Hang 5 Podcast hot seat. Julian is a young flatland prodigy from Normandy, France taking on the contest scene by storm.
Tech links on both front and back wheel, supported by We The People and Les 3 Roux BMX shop. Studying communication.
Wise beyond his years, this is the story of Julien Baran.

I hit Barre Neirynck a message after I saw a few photos on Instagram,. Whats this event Barre? I don’t know much about it, it looks amazing. Barre came through with this repo, shouts to Barre and Djou Nien for helping out with photos. Nice to get a repo back here on Flatmattersonline. Enjoy this one!
TRAVEL DAY.
It all started last year when I saw some footage from a underground contest on a island thirty minutes away from the west coast of France!
Between Normandië and Bordeaux.
The vibe was so dope, that it sparked my interest to know more about this event.
The name of the island is Île d’Yeu, and is organise by Etienne Taraud and crew, the event called Oya Street Jam! With a resident population of only 5000 people, community style.
Congratulations to Jean William Prevost taking the win at the annual Omarisquino contest on Spain, followed by Julien Baran and Varo Hernandez.
In the AM class, the top three were the same as qualifying. Aaron Santos holding onto the top spot, followed by Louise Signeur and her sister Jeanne Signeur. Thanks Varo Hernandez for sending the podium shots and results in.
Kio Hayakawa takes the top spot in the first qualifying competition here at Fiseworld UCI World Cup in Montpellier, France. Top 16 make semi finals, the event started yesterday and had to stop due to rain stopping the event being able to run.
We finished qualifying at 9am this morning, with the last group of eight riders. Props to all the riders getting it done in difficult conditions. Semis later on today, let’s hope the rain stays away.
