Lookback: November – The 2016 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards

With the voting closing today on the 2016 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards, its’s time to finish up on the last two months of the year. Did things slow down, hell no!!!

On the 1st of the month, I was still catching up on the Flatark contest. Viki Gomez was presented with the 2016 World Circuit title at Flatark, Viki was followed on the podium by Matthias Dandois and Yohei Uchino! Here’s what Viki had to say:
“GRACIAS! THANK YOU! 2016 competition season’s been great to me and I am very grateful for once again taking home the 2016 World Championship title! @bmxflatlandworldcircuit. Much love to you all! It’s time to celebrate!”

Lookback: September – The 2016 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards

Earlier today I said August was the busiest month of the month, I spoke to soon. Judging by the amount of pages I have to go through even topped August! Have you not voted yet? Check out what went down in September.

The clocks go forward in April, and the riding level and contest season takes on more momentum as we all get psyched for the summer. What happened in April? Here are some of the highlights as I dig back in the crates at some of the key moments…


Dane Beardsley’s amazing section from Samethingdaily3 is now online mixing up flatland, trails, ditches, concrete parks, street, Dane can do it all! Flatland wise, look out for the No handed backwards death truck line at 2:20, xft shove it mccircle line at 3:47 and a whole lot more! A Good Friday treat for you from Dane Beardsley, pure BMX! A great way to start the month of April!

Transworld – Network VHS\Flatland Section

Chad Johnston contributed a sick flatland section featuring Pete Brandt, Martti Kuoppa, Andrew Faris, Chad J, Terry Adams and Simon O’Brien to the 2004 Network DVD. This may or may not have gone under the radar, from the opening pedal 5 intro by Chad this is so good. The riding stands up to this day, as Chad selects some of his favourite clips. My personal favourites were Simon O’Brien’s backwards half packer kick flip line at 1:53, Pete Brandt’s multiple half karl bar flips at 2:19, Martti Kuoppa’s xft hitch kick flip to regular hitch at 2:48. Stoked to watch this one again and suggest you do to!
